ever since I've had my engine in I hear the rockers ticking. They are comp cams roller 1.6, not sure which kind. Is that normal or does anyone else experience this? They get a little loud when I'm on the gas and it worrys me. Thanks.

I have the same "issue". I have asked everybody about it, because at first I thought it might have been an exhaust leak...that's how loud it is. I have been told, everytime, that it is normal. Some rockers are louder than others, but it is normal....from what I have been told.

I have also been told the reason I hear it is because I am not sealed off from the engine bay well enough. My steering shaft seal on the firewall is broken, so it allows more sound into the interior of the car.

mine also make noise up top. I thought it was the fact i had roller tip rockers now i have full rollerized magnum rockers and same tick. seems to be the nature of the beast. what i did to fix the ticking was put a very annoyingly loud exhaust system on my car. now i can't hear the tick lol. 351w bark

lol. I had the same thing after I raced a friend's notch. I got on it hard through second gear and after I let off there was this ticking sound. It sounded too metallic to be a header gasket. I got it home and let it sit for a couple days. So I changed the passenger side header gasket because I had looose header bolts on both heads.

It was ok the next morning on my way to school. After class I start it up and the tick was back and louder. I start driving home and once I get on the freeway it gets even louder. Finally it's so loud It sounds like metal parts are clanging around inside my engine so I pulled over. After sitting on the side of the freeway for three hours waiting for a tow truck I get it home and open up the valve covers...

The adjuster was almost completely backed off!! Well I re-adjusted all rockers TWICE just to be safe. Ticking gone.

BTW, the book I used for reference mentioned that for stud mount rockers to go 1/2 to 1 full turn on the adjuster after pushrod snugs up, then snug alan nut, but to use the adjuster nut to tighen it down while holding alan wrench. When I did mine during HCI install, I only tightened alan set screw and that would explain how they got loose.

Good luck.
