Roush Subframe Connectors?

How many of you have subframe connectors on your car? Since mine is a convertible, I'm thinking they would make a huge difference. My concern is that they will hang down too low. Anyone have this issue?

Also, I'm seeing two kinds. Full length and ones that look like a "T". It looks like the "T" ones bolt to the seat bolts, then are welded to the existing frames. I'm not sure how the full length ones attach. Also, it looks like some grinding needs to be done for the verts (rivets on the frame?). Anyone have any suggestions??

They make a huge difference. I have some FMS subframe connectors on, welded on, about 3-4 feet long, and they made my 94 vert a totally different car. I don´t have any on my Saleen Cobra because I didn´t want to modify it, but I must say that compared to my 94, it really feels soft.

I had basic subs on my old ’90 LX hatch and they did a decent job but I am much more impressed with this setup from Global West.

It more $$ but I definitely recommend it on a vert and it makes lifting the car so much easier.

I had those same concerns regarding my Saleen Cobra; e.g. modifying a low mileage original car. However, it sorely needed a set of subframe connectors since it is a convertible.

About a month ago I had DPR install a set of Maximum Motorsports full length connectors along with a strut tower brace & lower control arms. The difference is dramatic. The entire car feels much more solid & secure, particularly going over uneven pavement, around corners & under acceleration.

Subframe connectors are mandatory on a convertible & certainly advisable on a hatchback or coupe.

The connectors do extend below the Borla exhaust system & I was pretty concerned about going over speed bumps, but so far I've yet to scrape them on anything.

It doesn't look like they take your seat bolts into consideration at all. does that matter? Also, from the picture I'm assuming they are welded on the left side and the right side just sits against the side of the body? Not quite sure how they are attached...

The seats are bolted to the sub frames and the outter jacking rail is welded to the body as well.

Dennis had Joe at Chicane install his tri ladder subs. One of the best in the business for sure. I have had MM's, Global West's, KB in a box crap and even Saleen's old set up.
I really like the Global West set up with the seat supports. The tri ladders are as gnarly as you can go. I would think that you would be totally content with the Global West single tubes with seat supports. It's the set up Dennis has minus the "ladder" rungs and the outside square bar. You see that bolt and nut dead center of the picture Dennis posted? That is the outside passenger seat bolt. You see that small triangle coming off of that nut to the left. That is the seat support.

Mike is 100% correct that subs are absolutely necessary on a vert. Your car came with hollow Ford subs that are near worthless. The best way I can explain the difference in ride quality from stock to haveing subs would be after having the subs installed your car will feel like it's one piece as opposed to two. You will especially notice the difference at speed entering or exiting the freeway and on uneven pavement at speed in a corner ( just like a high speed tuen on an autocross course. ) You won't damage your investment at all by having someone who knows properly insall subs on your car. When it really comes down to it you can't go wrong with the Global West or Maximum set up.
 
I have M.M. full length subframes welded in my 04 vert and love them. Seriously, my car drives like a coupe without a single sqeak anywhere. Go for it! No cleareance issues what so ever.
