GT Premium Leather question

Do the Mustang GT Premiums come standard with full leather seats? I'm semi confused at the discription that ford.com has.

-Under the interior options is has - Standard: Aberdeen Embossed Leather-Trimmed Sport Bucket Seats. Does this mean that the seats are just trimmed with leather, and the seat surfaces are cloth and you have to get an interior upgrade package for leather seats?
-
The Interior Upgrade Package (also semi confusing on the site) - This, in a nut shell, it what adds all the shiny aluminum to the interior console, shifter knob, etc?

-Then what is the Premier Trim w/Color accent package - I don't know what they mean by wrapped and stitched instrument panel brow, console lid, etc.

Basically I don't way pay for something that the other upgrade option covers, and I'm confused on which interior package adds what. If anyone can chime in on which/any interior upgrade packages they got and exactly what it entails, or which ones aren't really necessary that would be great.

I can answer a couple of your questions....

The Premium package is leather on the seating surfaces in the front bucket seats: the remainder of the bucket seats and the entire rear seat are vinyl, not cloth.

The info below is from edmunds.com:

The interior upgrade package includes leather-wrapped steering wheel with satin aluminum spokes, bright polished register rings and bright shift knob, satin aluminum-plated door handles, special new bright polished six-gauge cluster with MyColor feature and message center, satin aluminum door sill scuff plate with bright MUSTANG lettering insert and Dark Charcoal Aberdeen pattern front door panel inserts.

The premium trim package with color accents includes wrapped and stitched instrument panel brow and center console lid, bright shift knob, upgraded door armrests with stitching and aluminum pedal covers. Available in 5 interior colors. REQUIRES Dark Charcoal or Black w/Parchment Accent or Black w/Red Accent or Black w/Dove Accent or Black w/Chamois

You get one or the other of the above two packages: they are mutually exclusive.

One last answer.....

The stitched leather instrument panel brow (the very top part of the instrument panel) and console cover are real leather with contrasting stitching, not the vinyl covers that come standard with the other interior packages. I saw them on a car at my local dealer, and they look sharp.

If you click on the Premium Trim w/Color Accent package as your first an only option (on a Deluxe), you are required to add in the IUP, leather seats, and Shaker 500 system.

If you start with a Premium GT, its hard to tell this since leather seats are the only seating option. Then if you select the Premium Trim, it only makes you select the IUP since leather & the 500 come with the Premium as "standard".

It doesn't appear that there are any overlapping options as the system usually yells at you if you have to remove one option for something else. I thought for a minute too that selecting the IUP meant I didn't have to select leather...it would come with the IUP; that theory has since been proved incorrect.
Hope this helps!

Thanks guys this helps.

It seems to me that I want the IUP, as I want the stain aluminum upper console instead of it being stitched leather. However, it seems that I can order both the IUP and the Premium Trim w/ color accent package - but that doesn't seem right.

The PT w/ CA actually overlaps some of the stuff offered with the IUP. Is the PTw/CA more of a color upgrade, while the IUP is more of the "everything" shiny upgrade?

Also anyone know why on the ford.com site the option for Satin Aluminum Instrument Panel Applique is automatically clicked.

EDIT: May as well get this in there as well - can I get the GT appearance package but have them omit the hood scoop (so I end up with just the engine dress and rolled bright tip exhausts?)

Sigh...details, details  .

Dreadnaught, skip getting the GT apperance package if you do not want the hood scoop. From www.stangsuspension.com you can get the same intake cover for $71.87 delivered to your door. Type in STANGNET in the discount code box when ordering and you get 5% off. Then if at sometime down the road you replace the mufflers the rolled tips are bye bye. So why pay $240 for the intake cover?

Well my next upgrade after I get the wheels and rims put on it (soon as the mustang is delivered) is to upgrade the exhaust to stingers - so I guess who cares about the rolled tipped :D .

I think I'm going to save ~$500 and just order a GT Deluxe and forgo the shaker 500; 8 speakers and 500 watts - I can makedo with 4 speakers at 160 watts (hell it may even make it a lil lighter). The GT Deluxe with the $695 leather upgrade will give me front full leather seats correct?

As a side note question - If I get 20's put on the GT Deluxe, will I have to do any special lowering or mess around with the suspension to accomodate the 20'' rims?

And with the IUP, I think u get two more gauges the oil gauge and the voltage.

You are correct. This was the reason that I ordered it. Hard to believe that a car that is as performance oriented as a V-8 Mustang requires an option in order to get oil pressure and voltmeter gauges. Something's wrong when these aren't standard equip...

With the Premium Trim it is the very top of the dash which is stitched leather, not the panels above the glove box and stereo headunit. Those remain either satin or charcoal finish as part of the IUP.

Well then after everyone has chimed in, I think I'm going with the Deluxe GT (shaker 500 pfft) with the leather upgrade. As long as the leather covers the same amount as the GT Premium I'm fine.

I am tempted to go with just the cloth seats. If the leather isn't of good quality and I stick, that will get old...fast.

Marine One, totally agree. Sorta like how they took the stock 3.55 gears out of the '07 GT's and stuck in 3.31 - with a $100 optional 3.55 gear...

Anyone able to weigh in on the 20'' wheel question?

I plan on eventually lowering it, along with a deluge of other upgrades. Optimally, I want to have the wheels, tires, and the Street Scene center grill light bought and ready for the shop to balance and install.

The only factor remaining is how much labor will cost me to put the wheels and tires together and balance them, install them, and the grill.

What is it about leather seats that ppl will pay this kind of money for them?
imo I cant stand sticking to them.

I didn't like leather before, but when I looked at the running pony cloth interior I wasn't impressed. I was going to upgrade to the shaker 500 anyways so I just figured I would get the premium package. I don't wear anything in my car that exposes my skin to the seats so I have never had an issue with sticking to them.

Dreadnaught, have you checked out Tire Rack? They have several 20" choices and they mount and balance for free when you buy tires and wheels from them. You can even see what the wheels look like on your car on the site.

Yes I checked out numerous sites, that one included. Alas, like everything in my life, I choose to be difficult and order rims and tires seperately because I couldn't get them as a package.

Wheels: 20x10, 20x9, CS67
Tires: 4 Nitto extreme NT-555 275/35/20

I am waiting to hear back from the guy I plan on buying from if he can order the tires and balance them with the rims.

Isnt it a shame we dont have a choice! As for the running pony I mean. I have a v6 deluxe and that comes with the cloth with mustang print. :nice:
I live in Florida so we run around in shorts and no shirts a lot especially when we go to the beach. :D
