Ordering a catback in the next week. Can't decide. HELP

Wait you said that Bassani is overpriced yet you bought a BORLA catback? lol, a bit ironic i think. :nice:
Got my Bassani catback for $450 shipped and its exotic and deep and different from the rest. Loud when it needs to be and quiet inside the car as well. Perfect with an o/r x-pipe, but not loud enough yet for my tastes. Time for some LT's :D

was this the Bx or the stainless version?

All the bassani's I saw were 650+ for the stainless stuff, not the BX "junk". Stingers were $523 shipped. Oh yeah, and LT's will QUIET your car!!! They will make it a bit raspier and gruntier too...but shouldn't be any louder than the crap stock manifolds.

theres nothing wrong with the Bx version... the tips are still stainless, same quality fitment and mandrel bends. Sure the exhaust piping is aluminized, but its not like it will rot out in 1 month or something, you'd only be worried if you lived near salt water or you have bad winters and your stang is your DD. The only other difference i can think of is the Bx comes without baffels, which most people remove anyway.

GT12207 - nice summary.

It may or may not be important to you, but did you also consider the style/type, size and quality of the tips on the catbacks? This again, is why Bassani is tops on my list, as you can get it in 3.0" and 3.5", they are stainless pretty far back and are slash cut. For 99+ body style, the magnaflow/pack tips which have more of a straight up and down cut maybe preferred. IMO, I don't care for the Borla double tipped tips, but if you like borla sound they make a SS catback for Steeda that have standard single wall tips.

I've had my Borla Stinger's on for just a couple of weeks now, and I love them. I did alot of listing to sound clips over at the Mustang Exhaust . com website, and that helped me to decide on the Borlas.

They are very mean sounding when you get into it, at idle you can barely hear them. On the freeway at 70, they are noticeable, but not overbearing. But, keep in mind that usually I've got the top down, and the wind noise and radio noise dominate what I hear.

I realize this, that's why I put "junk" in quotes haha. It's a great catback, for sure, but for however much a BX series is I would just go with Magnaflow which is stainless.

:D On a side note - my new Borla catback got shipped out early and is gonna be here tomorrow via FedEx YAAAAAY

I am leaning towards the borla but the few sound clips I have heard they sound like they pop/crackle on deacceleration. Have anyone you guys heard this? And does anyone have any pics of the tips? I read that they are 4 inchs. that just seems huge.

Dustin

PS thanks guys!

That's the one I got on mistake for a cobra, but its the same tips... sorry no pics on the car yet :p Honestly they aren't that much "bigger" looking than my 3.5" magnaflows...they are however much "thicker" looking with the rolled lip and deep chrome finish.

Looks like I am getting the bassani. I found a local shop that has a kit sightly used. I am getting a good deal on it. thanks for all you help guys.

Also what is the normal power gain from just the catback. I know it is not much. Just wondering
