Hello....

I have a question. I have a 302 with the following:
-GT-40X heads
-Edelbrock performer upper and lower intake
-E303 cam
-190 fuel pump
-24lb injectors
-75mm mass air
-75mm Throttle body
-BBK long tube headers
-Dr Gas Xpipe......

Thinking of maybe going to a carb set up instead. What are the pros and cons?....Car is only driven in the summer months with almost nothing in the winter time or very little. Would it give me less power?...More power?....Just figured id ask around....THANKS

Also want to know if i use 1.7 or 1.6 roller rockers on my GT-40X heads with beehive springs would i get any HP increases...noticable?...Just trying to figure out all possibilites of getting over 300rwhp out of my setup without it costing a whole lot and keeping alot of my already bought items. Would like to have atleast 320rwhp out of setup if possible. I love this site and appreciate all answers i have gotten to other guestionson here......THANKS to all:SNSign: :hail2:

I had a 350TPI Z28...that I changed to carb. Yes it was easier to tune but I hated driving it.

Carbs are the pits when it comes to street driven cars IMO. I eventually got tired of tweaking it all the time. Plus having to let it warm up before you can get it any respectable amount of gas sucks.

Milage will drop bigtime, you will have less throttle response and bogging problems (more than likely).

I would get everything and have it tuned with the EFI on. It will run better and be much more fun to drive.

I agree with the two previous posts. Automakers went with fuel injection for a reason. The only knock originally against fuel injection was the inability to make big power, but the aftermarket these days has pretty much taken care of that.
Going with 1.7 rockers would probably give you more power, but I'm just not sure about clearance issues. Just wait until somebody with more knowledge chimes in here.

I love carbs and all that old school stuff :)

I grew up with it and understand it :D

I would not wanna have to convert all the fuel stuff over :nono:

To my way of thinking if you wanna go old school

Get a 67-68 Coupe and Windsor Stroker it

Fuel injection is a better chioce with todays lame gasoline. If you can even call it gasoline, its more like rubbing alcohol (LOL).
Carbs require constant adjusting (as will your ignition timing) to compensate for the huge differences in quality found in pump gas. Yea, carbs are great when tuned properly, and to me nothing is better than opening up a four barrel and feeling all the horses jump into a full gallop ..... but you will suffer when it comes to mileage, dependability and overall driveability.

and didn't you say you want 320hp using your combo now? you switch to carb you lose your intake, injectors, mass air, TB, all that stuff you paid good money for. if your not happy with your current horsepower, look into a port job over the winter. look into stroking the motor... tons of options

I was looking over this thread again and saying .........
I really do know how you feel ;)

If I could find just a little bit more

You guys & gals ever notice how ........

As you get to a higher level of go fast
The cost of a little more go fast gets to be kinda pricey :rlaugh:
