hard starts?

Well i just picked up a 2003 gt and love it but it has a hard time starting everyonce in a while ... usually it turns over after like 2 or 3 cranks but other times it takes a lot longer ... and it sounds just weak flutters almost..
its been back to the dealer going on 3 times this weekend and they cant figure it out ...
i know this is a broad question but what could be some things causing this to happen???

thanks alot guys

I don't know if your problem is similar to mine, but ever since it's been supercharged it has a hard time starting every now and then.

It seems as though it's not getting fuel like it should.. so if I pump the gas a few pumps, it usually cranks right up. Strange to me, since it's EFI.

I'm not very knowledgable about how it works, so it could be something pretty basic.

Try hitting the gas a little when you crank it maybe.

It's a pretty common problem on the 99+ Mustangs. QUite a few guys have that issue.

My '03 does it as well. What i found that helps is to cycle the key to on, but don't start it right away. Wait til the pump finishes priming and then start.

Still does it once in a while.

Curious to know what the real fix is to the "delayed start"

i do the samething i let the pump prime the system and then start it but it will do it once in while  but it's just like the hot start problem have no clue what causes it

I have the same prob on my 02. I just leave the key turned on for a few seconds before i start it and the problem doesnt happen anymore. So maybe it is priming the pump or something to do with it. I will have cobra tank/pumps and a KB BAP soon with my S/C so i'll see if it still does it then.

Whats up NY guys, I just moved from Fishkill to Texas a few years ago. I love Texas, but i sure do miss NY.

would this dealer be poughkeepsie ford on rt 9?

there arent any reputable shops in our area as far as i know ive been searching for a long time for a decent shop around us but there is absolutely nothing except for dealerships and the run of the mill mechanic.

i personally do all my work with a friend or with my father..or both

i have brought it in to the dealership by me (Miracle Ford for my IAC [stupid idea when i could have done that myself in 10 min] and clutch replacement) and they did excellent work

ford is never going to figure it out...this has been going on too long.

anyway, mine does it all the time too. its weird cause i cycle the key but it still happens. the other day it was cranking for a while so i gave up and started to let the key go so i could turn it off and try again. then the car made no noise like it didnt start then a split second later i head the car barley fire up on its own. it fluttered to life after my hand released the key....strange huh?

Mine has done that exact same thing before.

Sucks when you go to a crowded gas station and notice a few people checking out your car and that then crap happens when yo go to leave :(

I just learned to give up early if it doesn't start on it's usual cycle that way it seems like my hand slipped off the key. :) It usually starts the next crank after that.

The pressure is leaking from your fuel pump. The fix is another
fuel pump, which is in the gas tank
