Miata's - Help me!

Thanks for the input guys. I'll have to get some more details on the exact year and mileage. And if she's going to sell it, how much.

As tempting as it might be....might not drop too much money into it, especially if the rest isn't in tip-top shape. No sense buying a car for 1k...dropping 5k in mods, and having it fall apart. Especially when I'm still dreaming of building the Factory Five Cobra. Realistically, this Miata would probably just tame my sports car urge short term, gotta be better than driving my Hyundai Sonata!

i used to see a guy at the local cruise night with a 5.0 in his. if your getting it for only a grand it might be fun to dick around in it for a month or two then start ripping it apart for the 5.0 swap over the winter.

My wife had a Miata and I loved to drive it. Nothing can beat it with the top down on a nice day. In Oct 2001, She was crunched by a dump truck which pushed her into oncoming traffic. The car was turned around when she was hit by a minivan doing 55 mph. She was unconscious for 30+ minutes and still has medical problems to this day.
The whole car collapsed around the passenger compartment absorbing a tremendous amount of energy.
I was very impressed with their "crash engineering".

haha too bad I did not know about this earlier.. I just sold my 99 Miata to get my 00 Stang.. and I just sold my full turbo kit I had sitting in the garage for it.. woulda been good for about 300 whp.. and imo.. Miatas are amazing vehicles.. the handling is NUTS.. the power is alright.. in my 99 I ran 15.9.. but I did not car about going straight when you could corner better than anything.

i also wanted to 5.0 convert it. so I was reading up.. a stock miata has 50/50 weight ratio..

adding a 5.0 in it with 1/2 tank of gas gives you 52/48 weight ratio.. you could also set that motor back as far as possible to get better wight ratio. and from what ive read/heard and rode in.. the handling does not change much.. it just breaks loose at throttle easier :)

but for 1k **** yea get it!

Doc - the way you love a handling car You'll be in love with the Miata. Only thing lacking is some more power but then you run the line of TOO much power and weigth and upsetting the handling of the car.
Heck for that price I'd buy one.

Yeah, maybe it'll replace that empty feeling I have after getting rid of that old 944. For the right price, I'll ****** it up should it go up for sale. Its actually my mother-in-laws, and we're afraid she going to be diagnosed with MS soon....so driving a stick will be very difficult for her. So its not how I'd like to get the car if you know what I mean....so I'm not really pursuing it until I know what's going to happen.
