Hello everyone, i'm a newbie from ohio. I just bought a 94gt automatic car, bone stock. I also just aquired a tremec 3550 and a lakewood bellhousing for next to nothing. The tranny and b/h are from a fox mustang, I have heard that there are length differences. Can someone wiser than me please tell me what it will take to make the fox tranny and b/h work in my 94 mustang. Will I need a special crossmember? Swap, lenghten, or shorten, my driveshaft?

IIRC, with the 3550, you will need to lengthen the driveshaft - most people do this with a driveshaft spacer that goes inbetween the DS and rear pinion flange. It is about 5/8" thick. I think that you may also have to mod the crossmember, and use the fox fork.

I don't believe there's any difference between the Fox and SN for the 3550. I could be wrong and it wouldn't be the first time, but the only difference in length I'm aware of was related to the T5.

You could be right but I am using a lakewood scattersheild and you have to specify fox or sn when you order it, I am assuming thats because of the different lengths in the input shaft. So wouldn't only one of the two lakewood bellhousings work with a 3550 if all 3550 input shafts are the same length?
(I think I worded that correctly)

If you are using the 3550 in a SN-95 you need the fox bellhousing. There are not different 3550's for fox or SN-95 - you have to use the fox length bell. I am uncertain if your driveshaft is the same length as a manual, but I believe it is. If so, then you'll need to use a spacer (or lenghten your driveshaft).

i'm doing aode to 5 speed swap right now with a 3550 and lakewood bellhousing as well (big red one) and the guy I bought it from said I needed a slightly longer cluch fork and of course I will also need a driveshaft spacer as well. I'll let you know how the rest of my swap goes...i'll probably put the tranny back in tomorrow and all I'll have left is pedals, computer and harness is already in which you'll also need.
