I am asking the debatable question and repeateed question of what type of exhuast will sound the best on my mustang 03 v6. i the flowmaster 40 series cat back right now but it is almost three years old and i kinda messed them up a bit. it sounds like is on its way out and am thinkin bout gettin new exhaust in the spring. i was wounderin what sounds good. i am willing to spend up to 6 or 7 hundred on them. i no there is some dispute over flowmaster and magnaflow and x,y or h pipe. just wanted to here from the people who no the best and some sound clips would be nice if you guys got them. thanx

I have used flowmasters on both my Mustangs. On my 96, I experimented a bit with the exhaust. I cut the Y pipe and bolted the pipes straight on and out the back. I had Delta 40's with pipes from a gt take off. Below is a clip and sound from the exhaust. I really liked the way it sounded.

On my 04 V6 that I have now I have gone with Flowmaster's again, 40 series. But used a x-pipe in the configuration. I really like the sound it produces although it is not as loud as the configuration I had on my 96. I did debate Borla and Magnaflow but went with Flowmaster's again since I used them before. I have heard the exhaust on a similar mustang like mine with magnaflow and it sounds good too.

Good Luck!

That sounded horrible. :(

I bolted on a MAC catback to my stock y-pipe, and it sounded deeper, louder, and much better at higher RPM's.

I have an .avi, but the filesize is too large to post. I need help with that...

I'll be getting the y-pipe chopped off for an off road h-pipe soon. An X-pipe will only make our V6's sound worse... And the performance increase it provides isn't worth it.

thanx for the help i got a lil while to go before i buy them so im goin to look into it a lot more. hopefully i will go with the best ones. any other information or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Best is relative.

I would stay away from Bassani on a V6 though. Sounds a bit "whiney". Anything else will give nearly the same performance value and a sound better than silence. ;)

Don't expect to sound like a V8. An even firing order makes that impossible.

Here ya go. This was a while ago. I put my window up. DUH. What a dumb mistake... My new camera takes better videos, but the audio isn't as good. I took a few videos earlier of my exhaust, but they just didn't sound good.

I'm actually having strut/spring problems because of an "accident", and the new camera just picked them out when I went over speedbumps. It's kind of funny to hear.

OK i must say that Y pipe MAC setup sounds quite enough to fall asleep behind and the straight pipes with flowmasters dont seem to be loud at all either...least theres a slight growl though i dont think straights ona 6 with a filter will help more then a X pipe......I have Flomaster Delta flow 40's with a Pypes offroad Xpipe...and its loud but still sounds good...i have a couple friends with GT's and Cobras and they like how it sounds and are pretty suprised...and at the track mustang people always ask if its a v8 with a v6 bumper on it.......so i think that pretty much speaks for itself...i also have a MAC CAI on it as well...i am trying to get a clip but i dont have the connection for my computer yet

you could check out magnaflows new xl mufflers. they combine a chambered design with the normal magnaflow straight thru and i heard it sounds awesome. x or h for sound quality depends on the muffler. x=straight, h=chambered, straight=anything. LT headers will also totally change your sound and make it much better.
