How big of a tire can I fit on my 10 holes?

I will be looking for some dr's soon to put on my rear 10 holes, and I'm wondering how big I can go. I'm guessing 255's, and I will probably be going with et street radials of bfg's. The 10 holes are 15x7 correct? If anyone has pics of dr's or slicks on 10 holes, that would be cool too, please list the tire size.
Thanks

A general rule of thumb: The width of the tire should be no more than 40mm wider than the rim width (mathmatically). On a 7" rim, that puts the recommended tire size out to 217mm. Going bigger than (225mm) increases the balloning of the sidewall which decreases the amount of stability a tire offers in panic turns. If you are running extra wide tires at the track only, my argument is no good. But for everyday driving... 245mm in witdh is pushing it on a very narrow rim.

Just my two cents though....

I have 275/50's on my 10 holes. All I can say is do it if you like but i'm kickin myself for doing it. It hooks well but I had to beat the inner fenders out and had to roll the fender. It still rubs so take my advise if you will but I won't buy this size again until I get wider wheels.

Wider wheels will actually make the issue worse because the tire will open up to where it should be. 265/50s don't rub at all, no fender bangin and no lip rolling.

Pictures anyone?

Only a couple of my car when i first got it and it looks like ass. The profile shot doesn't look very wide but they're pretty meaty.

Isn't there a point at which going too wide on a narrow rim like a 10-hole actually HURTS your ability to grip off the line? I'm sure that you can only go so wide and only get so much grip with street radials, anyway - I'm thinking 245 width, max, on a 15"x7" rim - because anything beyond that, you might as well be running drag radials or slicks, anyway ... and even then, I think 255 or 265 is about as wide as you'd wanna go.

Been weighing the wisdom of replacing all four tires on my 10-holes next year with, say, BFG Radial T/A 245/50/15's, or maybe just finding a spare pair of 10-holes and slapping on a set of BFG DR's in 235/60/R15.

I'd go 195's for sure. They'll barely fit so get the hammer out. I know someone good with a hammer if you want his number.
NO WAY! 185's are the biggest you can go on a Stang! ;)

Not sure about your typo. but I figured that I'd get in on the ragging. :) To be fair to GearHd6, according to his car-domain site, he does have
STEEDA Round Bar Subframe Connectors
STEEDA Strut Tower Brace
STEEDA Battery Box
BBK Adjustable Caster Camber Block
BBK Shortie Headers
MAC 2 Catted H Pipe
MAC Cat Back Exhaust with stainless tips

Otherwise, like others said, 225's are the safest. 245's are really pushing it on a 7" rim. *I* wouldn't trust anything over 225 on the street. You could be going around a hard corner and you could loose the bead seal because of the side-wall ballooning with the too wide tire and the stress.

It was a joke, we know the thread starter.
