hey, when i have the idle set pretty low with the lopey f cam, i can hear a hollow knocking noise from the tranny. sounds more like in the bellhousing or front of the tranny. it sounds like 2 pieces of wood, hitting each other in a hollow area. the throwout bearing is new and the pilot bearing is new. are my bearings in my tranny going out. the noise does not seem to be consistant with the engine idleing, it seems like it should be a faster knock if that makes sense

If there's too much slack in the cable the fork will make a noise sort of like that, but it sounds mor metallic and will get louder and faster in relation to rpm. Does it only do it when Idling?

i have the idle set low and the f cam lopes. so the motor shakes a little and it only does it when idling low, if i idle it up more it will go away. i have solid motor mounts that transfer all the vibes. the cable is new, there should be no slack.

I put a brand new world class T-5 in my '89 and it sounded the same way, kind of like marbles clanking around, especially at low lopey idle. I had a tranny guy check it out and even replaced the input shaft bearing and then just let it be. I also noticed that most mustangs with T-5's make the same noise at low idle, I've been under several to listen when I was faced with the same problem.
