Couple things I don't like about my Mustang

I have 23,000 on my '06, and the only complaints I have are:

* the finish of the center console. You breathe on it wrong, and it will scratch.
* no hood light
* no pony center cap on base Deluxe wheels
* I've developed an intermittend rattle in my dash. I contribute this more to my 100+ launches at the track and just as many additional passes at our "other" track. It's no biggie, and I'm sure I'll fix it soon.

I have SOOOOOOO many likes about the car:
* good gas mileage (I avg over 23 mpg)
* cheaper car insurance
* I like the stock gauges & placement
* shifter position
* placement of the radio & AC controls in relativity to the shifter
* handling & steering feel
* the whole look of the interior (I love the steering wheel & IUP)
* the height of the center console
* I think the seats are comfy, and hold me in good
* stock power, and also the car has responded CRAZY to mods
* ease to work on the car (intake is separate from water lines, better slip-fit exhaust, and plenty of room for headers)
* big mirrors. I thought they were ugly when I bought the car, but I LOVE DRIVING with them... NO blind spots.
* I like the blinker sound LOL
* I like the drive by wire throttle. Sure it's sluggish in stock form, but a tune SO fixes that. It's a hell of alot easier to control precise idle, as opposed to the cars with that IAC valve that always stuck or got dirty!!
* ride quality. Everybody that rides in my car, the first thing they compliment is the ride.
* the looks you get. These $25k cars get as much attention as $50k Mercedes!
* the performance of the stock Pirellis. An all-season tire that is 235mm wide that can pull 1.88 60's AND provide good snow traction??? GET OUTTA TOWN!?!? I love the Pirellis; I will get the very same tire when the time comes. Looks like I'm gonna get 30k miles out of them. I drove the car in WV winter last year and it performed admirably!
* I love stock clutch pedal feel

23,000 miles and I'm still in love with this car. I can honestly say that every time I turn the key it STILL feels like the very first time!

Promod, you say you get 23mpg... that means one of two things. 1) i got jipped and got the gass guzzler version of the mustang or 2) you dont drive it like it should be because i have driven it pretty moderately and i havent come CLOSE to that unless i have done 100% highway driving.

but i do agree with you alot of those things do make me happy to be a mustang owner. Especially the part about a 25K mustang looking the same or even better than a 50K merc. its very true, these cars make a statement where they go, wherever that may be.

The beer holder in the console was changed to my specifactions in the S197. There was extensive reasearch done and measurements taken of Michelobe bottles to acheive this exact holder configuration. The salesman I bought my car from told me so. :nono:
Embarass me, for what ?? your funny dude, sure wish I had what you're smokin maybe if I moved down south close enough to where your dealer is located ?? perhaps he could change the specs in my console so that I can place my molson canadian long necks in the cup holders ? :shrug: oops I mean beer holders :rlaugh:

Do you drive stop/go in town alot? That and idling KILLS gas mileage in these cars. I only spend a few mintues each day "in town", and most of my driving is on open windy roads. I drive the car pretty hard, but I am respectable with it. On the highway the car gets over 27 mpg, but I checked my "in town" gas mileage and it just gets around 14-17 mpg in town. All told, my message center displays between 22.9-23.4 mpg all the time and I have verified it by doing my own math at the pump.
But the main thing that sees to be varying gas mileage for everybody is time spent doing stop/go driving.

Those are great numbers! I live in a "stop and go" town so my mileage wouldn't be that great, but at least I know the car has the capability to return decent numbers.

I get 25 on the highway, and 20 when driving my daily commute. I don't like the cup holders, but it beats not having them at all like the fox bodies and being able to reach the shifter.

I'm getting about 25 on the highway if I put it in cruise. However, this morning I gassed up for $1.97 at Costco. I think I'll try to get 15MPG today. And no, I won't be idling....

:D

For me the cupholders are fine. A 20oz bottle of Dr. Pepper fits perfectly in either holder. Its a tight fit in the smaller holder but that just makes it more secure. The bigger one is my preference.

However I drive an Auto. If my car were a stick, I wouldn't like the placement at all....

Other pluses and peeves:

PLUS - The AC blows so friggin cold that I have been grant honorary citizenship to Siberia. However, since I live in Texas, this is a VERY good thing.

Peeve - The mycolor fuction is VERY cool but only changes the color of the dash board. How about doing the same for the center stack lighting? (BTW, I'm looking into a possible mod for this)

PLUS - Excellent interior styling.

Peeve - cheep plastic in some areas. The Center Console comes to mind...

PLUS - Excellent, smooth shifting, transmission.

That's all the really comes to mind. I took most of these into consideration when buying, so overall I am extremely pleased with my new 06. :)

I've been working on resolving some of my own complaints ....

and recently added this set of BMW Seatbelt holders >>>

1 down, 25 more to go

For starters the cup holders. They are in a terrible position. I always keep bottle water in there and my elbow hits the bottle everytime. And the cup holders used to be big enough to hold a large Gatorade bottle, but no more. It's deep but not wide at all. Bad design.

And those coin holder holes in the arm rest. One word... useless.

Just a couple things that have been annoying me lately.
do everyone on this board a favor. Sell it and buy a Cobalt.:shrug:

I've only got 2 complaints about the car, first is the plastic seem right in the center of the auto shifter! It looks terrible. 2nd is, every time I take the seatbelt off with the door open it flies out smacks the outside of the car. haha ok maybe that's not a problem with the car just my own stupidity.

PS Tony this is BrunswickLefty from BR.

My 1 real wish is that it had a telescoping steering column. If I get the seat up where my arms are in a good driving position, my legs are scrunched up, if I slide the seat back to get my legs comfortable, I feel like I'm sitting in the back seat and really reaching for the wheel. I would gladly have paid a couple hundred extra for that option.

Everyone on this board? And who the hell are you n00b?

Word up home skillet. It's weird how many people I know from other forums on here and other Mustang sites.

:nice:
start threads that have something worth discussing. Why do people always resort to making fun of someone because they are a "NOOB?" Does that mean that they know absolutely nothing and that they have no opinion? NO, IT DOESN'T! My opinion is that you shouldn't post useless threads.:nice:

Listen holmes. You come on here and tell me to do "everyone on this board a favor". You just joined "this board" and already you're the voice for everyone? Besides, there are more than a few replies on here so yeah, I'd say this thread is something worth discussing.

Besides, your post is :OT:

I get about 20 mpg with a combo of in town and hi-way driving.

Things I dislike:
-The incredibly loud A/C clutch
-The interior finishes on the plastic does scratch easily.
-The low passenger seat....it also causes the seat belt to be uncomfortabel for my girlfiend.
-The fact that the seats don't return to their old position once you lean them forward for access to the backseat.
-The paint swirls provided on my car straight from the factory
-My clutch pedal clicks twice everytime I push it down
-One of my door speakers has been blown since day one
-I already have interior rattles and really haven't driven this thing hard yet
-My air bag light will go off and on at random times when their is a passenger in the car
-Several other misc. items I can't think of now

With that being said, I realize most of those items are minor. For what the car cost, it's a great value, delivers great performance, and turns many heads. I absolutely love the styling (especially the front grill and lights) and the stock exhaust sounds great (although I still want to upgrade). The info center is also nice, but I wish they would have included a function for reading temperature.
