I have an MSD ready to run distributor on my 65 289. I have it direct wired off of the starter solinoid "I" terminal. I have 12 volts with the key on but only 8 when running. Any advice on the best way or place to tap 12 volts on these cars? I am also going to add a 6AL box later. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Jon

So, does that mean that you wire the 6AL to the battery and use is switched 8 volts for the distributor? MSD says you need a switched 12v even with the box. Any advice or info on how someone has wired one of these things would be appreciated.

I just removed the ballast resistor wire in the car.

Made a world of difference with my ready-to-run, cleared up a 5000rpm misfire once it was getting full 12V.
