New best, but not good enough.....

Awesome times man, great work :nice: . There's not a doubt in my mind you made that time. Eveybody forgets about sea level and weather conditions. Corrected alltitude is the biggest factor. Next to a good driver of course :nice: . At sea level my car is supposed run mid to low 11's, unfortunately I'm not at sea level :( .

There's a lot more to e.t.'s than rwhp. TweekedGT is right on about atmospheric conditions. Cal's uncorrected power yesterday was probably at least 12+hp higher than SAE. That helps but everyone gets that advantage on days like that including my car. My Cobra ran the best number last year at that event. 55 deg and sunny at 80' above sea level will produce very good numbers. The other factor is Cal can drive the car. A good e.t. is MORE dependent on a good driver than RWHP. Anyone ever see Rodney Gagnon run his 03 Mach 1 at that track. Last week he ran 11.57 and I dynoed that car, it made 310rwhp. There's no way it should run that number but I saw him do it. He's got a good chassis setup, weight reduction and he's a very good driver. Don't believe me? Look who pilots all the cars for Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords. Evan Smith will always run up to 1 sec faster than any other magazine test driver. He's that good.
p.s. I saw Cal do the 12.97, as well as about 2000 other people yesterday, good job.

One factor most people forget is if they are running slicks or skinnies! My buddies 01 GT with just a catback and full slick ran a 13.3 at 102! Traction is the key but when some people say stock they meant no head work, cams or motor work! None the less 12's in a gt is damn good! Bolt on's do count as a modification folks! Does not mean stock because you just put in a CIA and Catback!

i went 13.1s on nittos with an xpipe, pullies, chip, kn, 4.10s with the bone stock susp and everything in the car minus spare and jack

this thread is full of people that dont know ****. 2vs have been going 12's for a few years with only boltons. hell, i have seen them go into the 12s on STREET TIRES and one of them had stock gears.

Congrats man, I bet it feels awesome to finnaly go 12's now...thats my next goal and I hope Im not that far off from you....how are you launching it at the track, straight dropping the clutch or how? 1.7 60's would put me knocking on the 12.99 door as well :D

1001 wont hurt.

Or tell us what to search for, cause recipe for a 12 second bolt on GT did nadda...:D

Im not trying to be an ass, but I am really curious. I want to make sure I get the right parts instead of wasting $ on something thats not gonna make me faster.

Jackie, you forgot something :nono: I found this in your old post from '04.

26x11.5 ET streets on 15x8 prostars

removed:
swaybar
pass seat
rear seat
spare
jack
trunk carpets

race weight roughly 3540+/- (did you weigh the car?)

:stick:

Nice 60ft by the way! I was launching at 5200 rpm's on my best run(1.725 60 ft). The 2nd time I launched at 5200, it bogged. I'll try 5400 next time.

yep, I remember reading your "learn to drive" thread. you had some excellent weight transfer and good rubber in the back, your car left the line hard. Its not to say that 12s with a 2V are easy to attain, but if you have the right suspension + tires and you can drive the hell out of your car, then you should be there. Hell, Kurt2002 runs mid 12s with an auto with just stall, gears, LTs and Comp 262s (I believe)...

the stock suspension is fine to go 12's, my consistently 60'ed in the low 1.7s. my car with still weighed more than a coupe with the weight out. i weighed it back to back with other 99+ guys at the track.

a 12 sec combo is simple. its just a matter of seat time
