ok...

so i'm bored and i'm looking online for cars...i do that when i'm not bored too. anyway, i found a 97 cobra vert near my house for 11,500. i was wondering what you guys thought about a move from an 02 gt to a 97 cobra vert.

here are the specs...

my car now: 2002 gt, auto, premium pkg, zinc yellow, black leather, 46k miles, mach 460 stereo...the only mods are a MAC catback and a K&N...no problems at all, owned it since new.

the possible trade: 1997 cobra vert, green with a saddle interior and a tan top (i love green)...the ad says it has 50K miles, one owner. right now i can't see any mods in the pictures.

so assuming the carfax comes back OK...confirming the one owner and no accidents etc...what do you guys think? take into consideration this car is my daily driver (i can't afford two cars right now). i live in Mass. so snow is a consideration, but I drive the GT now....

so is it a good trade...is it a trade up, or a step down???

so let me know what you think!!

thanks for your help!

I wouldn't. I mean i'm in search of Vert now, But Not older one. Having new one and down grade to older one(Cobra or otherwise), makes no sence to me. 99 Cobra is getting cheap enough, if naything, i would look in to that

yeah, but i like to styling of the 96-98 cobra's over that of the 1999/2001...

i know it's trading for a car that is 5 years older than what i have now...but the cobra will hold its value better than my GT....just another thing to consider.....

even so...my car is 4 years old...the cobra is almost 10 years old...

but my car is only worth 2-3k more....

so obv. the cobra will hold it's value better....

aside from value though...all things being equal....02 gt or 97 cobra vert??

I have a 94-98 style and even i think thats a bad deal. If anything save 3 grand sell ur car and buy a 99 cobra

i would but 11.5k is kinda steep imo. and i'd rather buy it privately instead of through a dealer

i like the older bodystyle, i love green cobra's (the polished wheels are sex), i like verts and i like 4v 4.6's

i'd sell my car ('o2 as well) and put the extra money toward mods (4.10's, sfc and exhaust)

i say the gt, by a long shot.... first off, i'd rather have a coupe (just cause i dont like verts) and i like the newer body style way better... the only other thing nobody really mentioned, that would heavily sway my opinion, is that with your car, you know EXACTLY what as been done to it, how it's been driven, etc. since new. whereas you have no clue what happened for those 50K miles on the cobra. i have wanted a mustang for a while now, and the main thing that keeps me turned away (aside from the amount of money i'd spend) is that my parents bought my explorer new in 92, and owned it till i bought it off them in 01, so, needless to say, i know the exact history, and that is a huge plus to me.

keep that gt!

i love driving my '02 vert gt! my last stang was a '04 coupe v6. so i upgraded in my opinion. (v6 coupe to gt vert) to me dropin the top and takin a nice long cruise on a warm summer day/night listening the mach 1000 thump there's just nothing like it! besides the cobra is ten years old..resale value? to me cars are no way an investment unless they are the barrett-jackson auction type of car and i would hardly think a '97 cobra quailfies as investment for quick resale and super profit mabey in 30+ years or so... they may hold some value over a gt of the same year, but to me its just not worth it. get a gt vert/cobra vert '02 up you'll be much happier and have less problems..
