Ok well i put my MGW in and i absolutely love it but the person that owned the car previously put a hust shifter in it which i would not recomend but that shifter requires that you must cut up the inner dust boot and the MGW specifies that you must keep the dust boot in tact so i called up ford and a new one is about 130$. I really dont wanna spend that much if i dont need to so how important is the inner dust boot do i really need it?

I paid $40ish from the dealer, so they're really taking you for a ride... As ocbaud said, it's just to keep the shifter area quiet, if there are some cuts in it then its not a big deal.

:stupid:

I got one from the dealer for like 40ish. It made a load of differnce with the noise. After I got the new one it was noiseless.

Ok cool so there isnt going to be some kind of shifter failure if i dont get it. Yeah thats what i thought i even went to the dealer and explained what i wanted and showed a pic and they stuck with the 130 price

The 130 is for the metal plate PLUS the boot. You can order a new boot by itself from 5.0resto or Randy Stinchcomb (member here). Actually, let me check at home, I may have a new one that was supposed to go on Sundance before I wrecked her. I'll check and post up tonight....if I have it, pay shipping and it's yours.

No, there will be no problem except with the noise. Check a different dealer and see what they say. I almost guarantee that you will end up buying because of the noise. try and find it cheaper.
