I just put air in my tires on winter truck, and noticed that the rubber has cracks in it on the tread.....I've never seen it before, and it seems like awww crap bad tires, need new ones....but i'm curious is any real tire gurus could respond and tell me if that normal on truck tires, or if its bad?! I know if I go into a shop they will tell me that, regardless.

I had a 280zx years ago and the tires on it started getting some slight cracks in the sidewall, close to the tread. Not sure if that is what you are seeing, but I can tell you I will never drive on tires like that again. The tread completely ripped off while driving about 70mph and sent the car spinning. When it finally came to a stop, the tire was still full of air, but there was nothing but wires where the tread used to be.

agree with above. check the DOT date, anything 5 years old i would get rid of on safety concerns. we have a tire at my work the Michelin XCX/APT. i regularly get customers get almost 100k out of the tires. these are on you larger F150/250/350type trucks. most of them buy new ones when they see dry rot after 6 years or so. i had a customer get 90k out of them and only got new ones because these had some cracks, they had about 6/32 of tread left.
