I have a 1998 Mustang GT with Rio Red paint. Is this a rare color because I can not find and touch-up paint for it. The code for it is E8 and it is not listed in any of the books at the parts stores. I had to go to the ford dealership and that had to make a special order because they do not keep it in stock.

the reason why it is not listed in any books or paint shops can not mix up an exact match even thought they can mix up a batch for you is because the paint code E8 is a three layer system. It is a base coat of color, a coat of tinted clear, then a coat of regular clear. There is no way to get an exact match unless a professional paints the car in three layer steps. ppg, and dupont systems mix the color as one. This is extremely hard to paint to match especially if all of the car is not painted at the same time. Spies Hecker is the best system in my opinion in uses all three layers. I used the Spies when I put the 3.5 in cowl hood on my car, the fenders and front bumber still had to be blended to get the match I wanted.
