why do my headers glow red could this be my sputter and back fire at 2000 rpm. now could my whole distribtor be bad do these go bad i already changed cap and rotor. whats next to check i already dump codes code 67 and 85 i think is canister purge but i dont have emissions

yeah i advance and retared it but the hessition is still there and it back fires. no matter what i do advance or retard its still there

What do your plugs look like. See if you are running lean. If it is either my guess is it's either a timing or fuel problem. You can also have a vacuume leak which can cause a lean condition. O2 sensors possibly but check everything else before you throw money at the situation.

A lean condition does not cause glowing headers, headers will glow for 1 reason, fuel burning in them, this can be caused by a rich condition or by the timing being too far retarded.

does it smell really rich? another thing that could be causing the backfiring MAY (sometimes) be the MAF...my friend Paul had that problem when we initially did the SD to MAF swap...bad sensor, ran like poo, idled even worse, backfired, sputtered

If your fuel pump wasn't flowing enough, you wouldn't have fuel burning in your headers.

got the same problem but i have 347 w/ 42 lbers w/ pro m 80 mm calibeagted to 42 adn only driveers side is glowing red hot, i think thi sis a lean issue
