if you owned the car since NEW.. then obviously you know the truth.. HOWEVER... if you are in a state that required emissions testing and whatnot.. then the mileage is reported every time u get the car tested.. all it takes is a simple mis-read at the testing site to throw the alert at carfax that the odometer had been rolled back... i bet u thats what happened. I dont know how to fix it.. but good luck..

Yeah, I've owned the 2001 Mustang GT since new. I ordered the car from Ford and I am the ORIGINAL OWNER. I am really mad that the idiot who did the inspection on my 01 GT put the WRONG MILEAGE into the registry of Motor Vehicle Department's computer system.

I would like to know if this is going to pose as a problem in the future if I decide to sell my car privately or to trade it in for another brand new vehicle?

Basically, it will ONLY effect your ability to sell privately IF the buyer has a carfax and doesn't believe your story.

90% of people who buy a car dont wanna spend the 25 bucks..

(a reason why im helping all those penny pinchers out)

As far as trade in.. i would say it *could* hurt ur chances more so than the private sell.. BUT a lot of times dealers dont even LOOK at the trade in.. they just look up the value and make a low ball offer.
