I recently purchased a totally stock 94 GT with an AODE and 2.73 gears. It felt sluggish, so I replaced the coil, put on super conductors and NGK V-power plugs with a K&N cold air kit and took it to my local strip… my suspicions were confirmed with a heartbreaking ¼ time of 16.3!:( My next step is gears, but I don’t know what to get with the AODE. I am going to build it as a NA street car and put gt40p heads and gt40 upper and lower intakes on it with an E cam. This is not my daily driver if that helps, and I would like to wake it up and get better quarter mile times but I don’t know which gears I should put in it? I am thinking 3.73 or 4.10
Thanks!

The typical rule of thumb for a DD is to go 3.73's with a 5sp, and 4.10 with the auto. But, since yours isn't your DD, I'm assuming freeway rpm's won't really matter, so my choice would be 4.30's in your case. That, coupled with some sticky tires and it should feel like a totally different car.

4.10s w/ a 3000-ish stall convertor.

And get that 60ft down to a 2.0. You'll be in 14s no problem. It's all in the launch...

I got my best 60ft times launching off idle and putting the pedal about 3/4 to the floor. You want to hit the gas enough to get you going but not enough to spin. Once you get rolling floor it and hang on.

Seat time will teach you launching. My first 60fts were 2.4s and on same tires dropped to 2.0 w/ practice.

Now I have Nittos... looking for even better 60fts now. :)
