1st post, and I have only had my GT for a week now, and I already have some idiot kid that says he will slap my GT around in his stock srt-faig. I chuckled and told him I would give him a car length and I would still take him. Ok, that being said I dont know this car very well yet. My 01 GT when it was stock would usually pull by 1/2 a car lenght on them depending on the launch if not they were right on me. My car is a stick and obviously bone stock, oh yeah he has a short throw shifter.

Is a car length to much? I tried to talk him back to 1/2 a car once I found out he has a short throw but he started talking crap and said that I have 300 hp.

Input:shrug:

be smart, go to a track. Your not a real racer on the street, your just two dumbasses. To answer you, no, he wont beat you unless you just cant drive, the SRT-4s i raced (AT THE TRACK) were about .5 secs off my time, and i was running crappy times that night.

What's an SRT-faig, an SRT-4?

If so, don't under estimate them, they are quick cars. They might not be everyone's cup of tea, but they aren't slouch's.

I ran one at my local track and beat him, but it wasn't a massive whooping or anything. My track is 1000' in length, I ran an 11.4, he ran an 11.8. Neither one of us got any traction off of the line. I think I was ahead around a length in a half by the end of the track. I did however go back not to long ago and ran an 11.2 with better traction, so it could have been that much worse. I don't know what mods he had, if any.

If you can drive and actually get traction off of the line, you shouldn't have much of a problem. If you spin a lot and he doesn't, he'll take you. No disrespect, but I probably wouldn't have give him a car length, especially not knowing fully how to drive the car.

Totally agree.

Again, if you dump the clutch at 5 grand, don't expect to pull on him very much, at least not right away.

I ran one with some mods(255rwhp 265 rwtrq on a dynojet at my previous school) on his, and had only the C&L and canned tune. Took him by a car and a half. SRT-4's are a car that deserves respect, but I think that they are crap. It is still a neon. FWD crap. Yes your car will win if you can drive.

Hey 02whtgt,was that at prescott or c ville?? I raced one at prescott with my stock 01 lightning and he was pulling similar times to what you said, but my poor truck could only muster up 11.04 to 11.16 times, LOL.

I ran the 11.4 out at Centerville, the 11.2 at Prescott. I couldn't get traction for anything out at Centerville, but Prescott was much better. I was getting consistant 2.0 60's out there. The best out at C'ville was 2.25. If I could eliminate that horrid 2nd gear spin, I bet I can get 11.0x's if not 10.9x.

Damn, 11.04 is a hell of time for a stock L, not doubting you or anything, but most L's I've seen that close to 10's have quite a few bolt on's with drag radials! :nice:

Back to the thread starter, have you been to the track? What kind of times are you running?

SRT 4s are quick cars but very sloppy when it comes to traction and the feel of the car but the mustang gt is very straight forward about power plus it is rear wheel drive which is nice, but since I have owned an SRT 4 and also Owned mustangs that are heavenly modified and also just bought an 05 GT I think the 05 GT is very even with the SRT 4 since the SRT 4s stock are 13.7 with a professional driver and consistant 14.1 with a Novice driver but with very few mods they can make a bunch of power with little cash.

The problem w/ street racing other than legality is that most everybody either overrates their car (Yeah she's got the 200HP sticker package on her and tops out about 190) or underrates their car (sleeper). When you race on a track w/ classes and tech's checking to see if you fall into the class your racing in. You either don't get IT handed to you by a stock turbo 4 (that has boost turned up and/or nitrous and is running 103 octane w/ methanol injection) or end up wasting your time showing up some punk who thinks his/her car is fast because they always out accelerate everyone else at a green light.

What ever the case is, I'll still run him, I just hope my shiftering skills are > than his. I am going to fight for the half a car length (to actually bring it back to half).

Just out of curiousity would a tune with no cai work well in my car. Cause I have a spare xcal 2 laying around and I figured I could have a tune emailed to me shortly, or actually the last one I had emailed to me took me a month to get so I guess thats out of the question.

I actually spoke to Dave @ brenspeed and they told me it would take about a week to get my tune. So as soon as I get home to my xcal I'm giving them a call as well as ordering a cai  I figured why the hell not

Brenspeed and Bamachips are both top notch, but yes, a tune will help you with all around drivability and throttle response, along with some horsey's, just not as much as with a CAI combo. If you decide to pick up a CAI later, I know Doug at Bamachips will readjust your tune and email it to you for free (I'm pretty sure Brenspeed does this as well).

Yeah I decided I am just going to go with the jlt cai. With the tune at the same time. Probably gonna order them tomorrow.

With a cai and tune from Brenspeed you will take him easy unless:

1) you can't drive

2) his car has more than a short-throw shifter!

It's best to race on the strip, not street; but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
