97 V6 intake questions

Hi, i haven't been on here for a long time. but i remember when i first started getting on here seeing something about taking the intake and fuel rail off of a 99-up (split port, instead of single) is suppost to give u alot more power or something? anyways can someone help me out here and refresh my memory... i got a new job now and i might be able to aquire the parts fairly easy, i work at a salvage now, and alot of these newer mustangs come through it...so any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated, thank you. and if anyone knows the difference...there is something different between 99-2000 and 01-up, i just know this cuz i looked it up on the computer at work to see how much it would be.

I remember seeing something similar to that in the MMFF magazine sometime in '05. Try looking on their website and see if they have any old tech articles on this. I believe the intake was from a newer Windstar, 2000 model maybe?, with the 3.8.

I do remember that post.Just some quick facts in case you didn't know....

The swap of an intake from a '99 '00 V6 on to a 94-98.There are quite a few differences not to mention all the work that is required.I don't remember everything.

You'd need more than just the upper and lower intake. You would also need the cylinder heads from the newer model. The '99 '00 models had Coil Over Plug type ignitions where there are individual coil packs mounted on top of each spark plug. So,i'm not sure but you also may need the PCM (Computer) from the newer model to support the new setup. The heads are also needed because the the intake runners on the intake wont match the old heads.I think, but not sure, the coolant passages and vac passgages are also slightly different and not in the same locations to match the newer intake.

And that is about all I know. The cost of this conversion can get quite expensive.Probably not worth the money + time spent.

if you can get that stuff "THAT" cheap...then you might as well swap motors...

Yes the intake swap can be done....But for specific details...you'll have to ask around,or just try searching.

If I were going to spend that kind of money on it...I would just end up dumping a 4.6 or 5.0 in it.

but then i have to change alot more stuff, right? like..rear end, computer, tranny(or strengthen it), all the wiring... how much would it cost to convert to a v8? mine is a automatic also, so how much to leave it auto and how much if i change to standard? thanx
