What a big stupid game, it's like a big setup, we're the pawns, going after one another, and we just can't freakin wait to get our hands on one of these stupid machines. I'm embarrassed I even posted, and participated, and was drawn into, this thread. It's absolutely pathetic. How egotystical can a human being possibly be? I think this is the worst I've seen, this is exactly why I left VWVortex, and, well, several other forums, even adult swims forum, because of people like this. What a joke. Sometimes I actually wonder if people, truly understand, that these are "real" people you're talking to...and you should'nt be so goddamn rude. Honestly...think about it, look at some of these posts, where I come from, half of that crap would get you slapped around some. Maybe a good reality check is what some of us need. These companies rely on the back breaking labor of americans too ya know, not just the mexicans and koreans and the other's we choose not to care about, and then, we sit here and whine and complain about which "automobile" will be, "better", or, what?? Is it even possible to judge...I wonder, and even so, wtf, I dont see how the hell any of this even matters in the scheme of things.
I really hope the lot of us didn't make it out to vote a few days ago...Hey, something new to argue about? With, fake, not real, people, text versus text!! Who is the ego-text master!! Me!! I win, I can use the english language and a keyboard with a little intellectual thought, and make better patterns and analogies than you!! I'm number one!!! Yay, I'm going to buy a blue corvette, and go sit in front of the highschool until I'm 36 years old and show off!!!
To the point of defending a hunk of metal that does nothing really, but move our fat lazy stupid human as$es around so we can consume and destroy, faster. We won't be happy until we have smog filters growing out of our faces, as we adjust to the damage we've done.

Kidding aside, I didn't realize you mustang murauders would get so upset about my comments. I was just messing with you guys and letting you know how one-sided comments looked on the other side. Just so you know, I like pretty much all V8 rear wheel drive cars, not just the camaro.

[email protected] was as tested by Motor Trend (we all know what that means...). The same people ran the Z06 down the quarter mile in 11.7s @ 125.2mph. Put that guy in the GT and let him run it (hell, if I owned one I'd let him drive it). Otherwise, MT vs MT is about the closest to a fair comparison you can get.

Do any of you guys realize that neither the Ford GT or the Z06 were built for drag racing? In fact, it was probably the least of their worries. How about a lap around the Nurburgring, then we'll see which car is better.
I don't really think I should be posting in this thread I promised myself I wouldn't, but sometimes I think everyone takes drag racing too seriously. Myself, I don't like drag racing nearly as much as corner burning. But regardless, do you really think that Ford or GM engineers sit at a drag strip all day when designing these cars? I doubt it...
For those that don't understand my point, if the Ford GT was entirely built to compete in drag racing, it would be a 8 second car, and so would the Z06. These cars are built for "real" all around performance, not that braking or turning matters to anyone here.

Judging by the Commodore, the Camaro will be very good. 50/50 weight distribution, a well designed IRS, 28+ mpg, 6-speed and over 400hp. The LS2 is going out of production soon, so I would expect the base V8 to be the LS3 with 440hp+. The V6 will likely be at or near 300hp.
GM is in a position that Ford wants to be in. GM's market share is slowly increasing and they are bringing out very nice cars -- Aura, Astra, CTS, new trucks/SUVs, new Malibu, RWD Impala, G8, Solstice, Sky, Outlook, Arcadia, Enclave, Camaro, C6/Z06/Sting Ray etc.
Ford has the 2nd highest incentives per vehicle ahead of only DCx. Ford has 40% fleet sales compared to ~27% for GM. Ford lost 5 billion+ and GM's automotive branch is profitable. Last month Ford stumbled to 4th in sales and things don't seem to look better in the foreseeable future.

Umm, have you looked at any JD Power and Associate's dependability study in the last decade? Cadillac is always in the top-5.
Your prices are off. The GT starts at $150,000 + markup. The GT500 is about $45,000 with the upgraded stereo and gas tax(10,000 markup seems to be the norm). Also, the GT isn't a new car -- 2006 was the last year and we are well into the '07 model year.

No. The C5 Z06 was around $47k msrp. The 03/04 Cobra was around $34k msrp. Z06 is in a different league when it comes to performance -- regardless of modded Cobra 1/4 times.
guys, im not trying to stick up for ford but the shelby is a 500hp mustang.
the viper and now the new zo6 (which is about the fastest thing on the road) are in the supercar realm. seriously you are compairing a cobra mustang to top dollar super cars. those 2 cars whip up on lambos too, but would say the lambo is slow?

The best way to compare the cars is by test done on the SAME day. Comparing 2 test by the same mag is flawed because they use different drivers and the varying weather conditions on different days.geoffsgt said:
