AOD problems!!

Hey guys, guess what--I have a bi-pass!!!
i have a 91 5.0 with 120,000 miles. all stock
the transmission seems to not grab when i slow down to turn or stop. and i notice when it is shifting it waits till the rpms are way up to shift. i had a thread about this awile ago but it started working after i changed the fluid for the first time in the cars life.

any info would be appreciated

You caught a break changing the fluid and filter with high mileage for the first time and having it run at all. I picked up a '95 not too long ago with a bad trans that had also never had the change done with only 99k on the odom. I changed the fluid and filter and got the car to run but with no overdrive and no shift from first to second. I just replaced it with another AODE. Runs fine.

does it slip out of od ? thats the weakest link...the od band and usually first to go

most likely your overdue for a rebuild, my old aod car that bought brand new , i went through 3 trannies in 6 years , and the car never went faster than low 14's

i have to drive mine till after new years and when i changed the valvebody the last time it hade even more od dust in the pan and on valvebody separater plate im done with changing fluid and changing things i try to do all the work on my stang myself but this time its gonna cost me i dont know if ill change the trans fluid on my new AOD cause it seems to last longer if just left alone .AOD bites when i just tries to be nice:nonono:

well i dont know if it is slipping or hanging in gear. i dont ever drive far enough to get into OD so i dont know. i think it is a valve in the valvebody sticking. but it keeps getting worse. it hadnt ever felt like it was slipping till the other day.

ill be driving and slow down to turn or something and i will just about spin the car because it doesnt have any bite for a sec or two(just enough to get a few rpm) so i just dont have a clue how to explain it real good
