I have purchased a set of 1.9/1.6 valve performer heads. The heads have been ported out to a 1262 gasket on the intake side. This is was supposedly done by a well known shop, but it can't be backed up. My lower intake has also been ported to a 1262 after having the runner legs welded up for reshaping. The car is a 5 speed (2.95 1st - 0.59 5th) 1990 GT. Other goodies include 70mm throttle body and 3,73 gears.

I'm up in the air on cam and exhuast at this point. I'm currently running a e303 with the same intake and ported E7s (190 cfm @ 0.500 lift). I'd like to get some more low end torque becuase of te 0.59 overdrive. I also currently have 1-5/8 FMS shorty headers, but may change of to some 1-5/8 Flow-tech longtubes for which I all ready have the mid pipe for.

I'm curious to see what some other people are running for parts and for ETs and drivability. I'm hoping to run low 12s in the quater and still have a good driver.

Thanks

I run the same head..but should note the weak link for the RPM heads is infact the exhaust side, not the intake. I would look at having the exhaust side done before the install. Along with the Eddy heads I run a XE series comp cam and typhoon intake along with every bolt on avalialble...numbers are in the sig. Good luck with what ever you end up doing.

Edelbrock/GT-40

MD,
My set up is similar to yours. I have the GT-40 intake, E303 cam, Edelbrock Performer heads, long-tubes (please look at the list on my site or in My Garage). It runs 7.6 with a 150 shot or 8.3 N/A in a 302 block. The driveability is fine for an old guy except in bumper to bumper traffic in the summer with the air on. That may have something to do with 14 year-old sensors!

Do you know of anyone using this head and intake on a 347?
Good luck,
Jim

Exhaust side is just as heavily ported as intake. I just didn't know what the gasket number is right now. The guy claimed to have $1200 in the port work alone.

Dman which XE cam are you running? I have an XE274HR but I'm not sure I want to use it for two reasons. The first being I had a TFS stage2 and didn't like it, and second I have 1.7 rockers so the lift gets up there.

Those are the reasons I want to ditch the e303. lol

When ported these can be good (not great) pieces for a 347. On the other hand box stock leaves the performance less than stellar. I should know since I did it. As the saying goes 302 parts = 302 power.

Just an FYI for you Jim if you have not done so all ready I'd highly recomend advancing the e303 cam 4 degrees. It made a world of differance on my car. Just not enough with the .59 OD and 3.73 gears.

I run the XE270HR-12 but step down to the 1.6 rocker over the 1.7 which I believe will be easier on the valve train due to the aggressive ramp rate of the XE cams..results were excellent IMO.
