cool 65 drifting video

Well, call me a moron but that looks like fun. The guy has some good car control.

I used to go pick up my friends on rainy days with my parents caddy and go around town getting sideways around every long corner we could find. They call it drifting now but we called it power sliding or getting sideways. Lot's of fun.

I would love to have a big 200ft skid pad that I could slide around in both directions. Even better, a 400ft figure 8.

At the track we call it throttle steer.

You know what's really cool and tons better than drifting? Seeing one of those vintage iron races where the Mustangs are actually going scary fast with the back hanging out ever so slightly, just enough to see that they're on the ragged edge of control. :)

I went to the last VARA(Vintage Auto Racing Association) race of the year a few weeks ago, so I'm biased. :D

Well, pretty good until near the end... then he lost the plot! (And I think he might have got a bit of a dressing down by the officials afterwards.)

We run similar events here, motorkhanas, usually in a bit smaller area. The aim is to be the fastest around the course and usually requires a bit (sometimes a lot!) of 'throttle steer' and handbrake turns. Unlike most of the Autocross footage I've seen, in our championship events, we are required to do tests which include reversing sections. Going backwards at a great rate of knots and throwing the front of the car into the finish garage can be quite spectacular - an absolute blast if you pull it off!

My 'stang will be seeing a bit of this type of fun when finished

...and it's definitely not drifting.....
