I have a 92 4cyl car that is in great condition, and I want to do some sort of single turbo setup on it. The car orignally had an auto so I guess I will just put an auto tranny to not have to screw with adding clutch pedal etc. What is a good auto tranny for at least 500rwhp. I see that people use an "R" block, what is that and were can I find one? I have a lot more questions, just haven't hit me yet.

Thanks in advance

not sure which tranny bolts to the four banger. i know your a4ld won't last one pass, especially without some serious 5r55e help. maybe a 4.0 case. steel planet kit for fwd and rear planets, and od section from a 5r55e. put on od servo from the 5r55e in the int. band. good luck. ps they call them exploders for a reason. you will be better off finding a standard, unless you can find someone that builds a c4 bellhousing for your 2.3. maybe even ford did. i haven't seen it.

is this going to be a turbo 4 or 8? I'm confused, because the R block is a ford racing V8 block

edit: since this is the 5.0 tech. I would recommend a dart block over the R block (unless you can get a deal on it). But how much power are you planing on making? For my supercharger build I went with a ford sportsman because my goal is 600 hp at the flywheel, which the ford sportsman has been proven to hold strong, but if you want alot more than that I would look into a Dart block, pretty pricey if I had the money I would have gotten the Dart.

I'm not sure on a transmission but many of the high hp turbo 5.0's around me use Lentechs with manual valvebodies.

Hope this helps.

Sorry not to be clear, car was a 4cyl, just a roller now. I want to build a low comp. 306/331/347(not sure on which one yet) and throw tons of boost at it. I need a good auto tranny that would hold gobs of power. My goal will be at least 600 rwhp.
