Disect my timeslips. I want to break the 12s.

My first time at the track and it went very good.

1st pass

Overall, I'm pretty happy with my times. Can you guys disect my times and see if it's doing good? My combo is just the gt40, explorer intake, e-cam and all the bolt-ons. I firmly believe I could've cut a 13.2 or even a 13.1 with my 1.729 60s, but I missed 3rd, worst part was that I was lined up against an lt1. I was thinking of porting the intake and getting/making myself a decent cai kit to let my car breathe a lil better. With that and a harder launch, I want to cut a 12.9. Am I aiming too high? I was only launching at 4500rpm and I felt the tires spin a lil bit. I had them at 15psi.

ps, who said first timers have a hard time launching.:rolleyes: I know I can get better with more seat time, but I believe I did good.:nice:

I would try removing the spare/jack, back seat, dog bone, weight in the fender (verts only), and anything else you can easly remove. Maybe a set of lighter rims??? I would say the wieght is holding you back...maybe a tune to get alittle more out but for the cost if you dont have a self tuner I dont know if it would be worth it but IDK.

With 1.7 60's on a stock susp. even with M/T's thats not too bad at all...practice on that should get you were you want to be also.
 
I was scared of braking something, especially with the control arms on there. It still spun a bit, so lower psi and a harder launch is in sight to get that 12sec timeslip.

IMHO ... your concerns are warranted :)

I'd be worried about the t5 and axles :eek: :eek:

You're already doing pretty good on the 60 foot.
Of course, there is most likely improvement to be found there.

Setting aside the 60 foot for now ... I'd look into the following :D

shift rpms
dizzy setting
fuel pressure setting
cool down between passes
tire pressure ... front & back
simple weight reduction items

you know :D ... simple basic 1320 stuff like that ;)

I'm going to get my intake ported and get a 3" home made cai, cause my engine wasn't 'breathing' properly, I feel.

Will, he got scared. He had a better reaction but with my 60s, I jumped on him in 1st & 2nd and I would've taken him, but I missed third. He didn't pass me until the 2nd time I tried to push 3rd in.

I really am scared of breaking something, but I would just love a 12.99 slip to show to non-believers. As far as weight reduction, everything mentioned above has been done. I think it's just a matter of launching harder and letting my engine breath in a lil better.

I know I know!

Its important for you to be able to show others and yourself you can obtain that sub 13 sec 1320 goal :)

Goals are so important in life :nice:
They help push us to obtain new levels in everything ;)

You did things differently than most when starting to drag race

You got very sticky tires right off the bat
Most ... do everything else but that

I think that is a good thing :nice: ... that is ... if you don't break it :rlaugh:

With those sticky tires ... You've gotten MOST (not all mind you) of the 60 foot you're gonna find.

Having said that ...............

When it comes to playing around at the 1320

The 60 foot is where its at :nice:
bad 60 foot is a bad et ................ unless you got mega hp

It is my firm belief ... you'll find more improvement ... with less effort :banana:
if you do the things we talked about above
as opposed to ............
focusing your efforts on the launch and all that stressing of your dt :(

besides

The 60 foots will just naturally fall with more 1320 time on your part ;)
