I would like to hear more on what you think about functional parts vs. looks. I recently posted a photo of my stang and one of the replies stated that the California Special package along with the GT package is "purdy", but that it is not right, because it is not functional. I was also browsing around in the forum and noticed that similar posts and comments have been made.

Everyone has the right to have their opinion and that is what makes this country great.

Now, I would like to hear opinions. If you say extra parts in the car are not right because they are not functional...then, I would like a list of things in Mustangs that are for looks and not functional...not just hood scoops, etc.

If you say that extra parts are right because it enhances the appearance of your car; therefore, making your car special...I would like a list of those things.

I say make your car look they way you want it. Functional hood scoops don't really do anything anyway, on the other hand functional side scoops would be cool. Bottom line it is your car and if you want it to look "purdy," then go for it.

Agreed. The "Functional Only" argument is stoopid. Styling is equally important as performance - else why the ridge down the center of the hood, the non-HP-increasing running pony on the grill, the body lines, Bullit/Premium rims, ICAP, Mycolor, runners, cut/polished >2" exhaust tips, etc.

Show me the Mustang with all it's redundant parts removed (begin with the above, then move onto the plastic bumper-covers), and I'll accept that snobbish attitude from the owner of that car. Otherwise it's just a case of - "The appearance stuff on MY car is cool, but the extra stuff you have is just too much."

i got windows scoops, side scoops and hood scoop. none are functional. why would i cut out my hood scoop to make it functional, so i can get rain on the motor, weaken the cervinis hood, and not gain any power? wtf is the point? it has been proven that a hood scoop does not add power on this car. it only worked on carb'd cars where the scoop was right above the aircleaner. look at my car next to a stock, and tell me you really care about it being functional!

Mostly mustang people dont like my car because ive got a body kit and all the show stuff. But its my car and i really dont care what they think and niether should you. Although my car puts down some good HP for a show car and i daily drive my car!

Should be Functional parts for 05+
Hood Scoop
Window Scoop

flare--
Sides scoop
Shinny Rims

:nice:
I don't care for the hood scoop to be functional...unless you have a shaker...but it does make the car look retro and I love that look

I wish the side scoops were functional since they could have been made to provide fresh cool air to the rear...they still look awesome even if they are just flare

Celtic - That is the reply I was looking for. If you go into what's really functional, I would say a big chunk of a car is not functional...including shinny paint, rims, logos, etc.

BTW, I love the way your stang looks. I think I'm going to put quarter window scoop. Is yours installed using double sided tape? If so, how does it look up close? Is it flush?

It is not that I care what somebody thinks...it is the fact that I find it funny, and odd at the same time, that someone would make a statement about someone else's car that doesn't make sense to me. So you see, I'm trying to understand the statement to see if it has any validity. So far, the only thing I've gathered is that for someone to make a statement about "functionality" there are only a couple of reasons: One, the car is used only for drag racing therefore there is no need for extra stuff. Two: the person is jealous in some way wishing they could make their car look better. Three: they are just bitter about something and making useless statements makes them feel better.

My Mom used to say...before she died, "If you have nothing nice to say, don't say it"

yes they are on with double sided tape. they are made by cervinis, so they fit perfectly flush. i have gone 150+ and all my scoops are still on. this is one of the reasons i like cervinis, they actually wind tunnel test their stuff before selling it, unlike most companies.

I think its based on 2 varibles. What the owner wants, and the color of the car. Mine is Redfire, alot of the bling that looks good on a White or Black car just doesnt work on a Redfire.

Ive only added painted mirror inserts on mine, It just looks good the way it is to me.

Whats funny to me is all the bashing the GT guys did to V6 owners about upgrading the V6 to the GT bumpers and fogs. Now look at how many GT guys are upgrading to GT500 body kits, seems like just as many if not more.
