Transgo Shift Kit Manual Valve Body?

Hey Everyone,

I have been using the handy search button and I read a few posts about the transgo shift kit being able to convert to a manual valvebody.
I went ahead and actually called Transgo and the gentleman I talked to said they do not make any kits that will convert a C4 into a manual of any type.
Can anyone prove that the kit will be able to give me manual control over my valvebody before I order the kit?
If it matters, I have a C4 out of a 1968 Ford Falcon.
Is there any special instructions or does anyone know of a website with more information?

Thanks for your help!

Talk to someone who knows what they are talking about. I just gave one away. I'll get you the part # tomorrow. I still have the old box.

Hey 10sec, have you used a transgo kit?

Does it come with the instructions to convert the valvebody to a manual, or is it something you have to figure out yourself?

Ran one in my car for a few years. I just put in a transbrake and gave it away. It's actually a shift kit. But on the back of the instructions it has an option for a maual valve body mod. The kit has the plate and valves needed to do it. I WOULD suggest recomend doing the kit. Then doing the mod. It can get confusing if yo utry to do both ath the same time.

The tranny is not in the car, and it is waiting to be rebuilt. I wanted to get all the parts together to do a complete rebuild.

I have been trying to decide between two different companies, broader and level 10. I have talked to both and both seem like quality companies, and both have also said that they only sell new valvebodies to get a manual control.

Hey 10sec, can you give me the transgo part # so I can order the kit? ALso, does it give you the choice of forward or reverse shift, because once again I called transgo and this time they said they dont offer a reverse manual kit which is what I need...

Also, my tranny is an older (1968) C4, which may be another problem???

Thanks

Ya, I think I am just going to buy the full manual reverse VB from Jay at broader. Its only $200 and from all the great stuff I have read about that company I feel comfortable with the purchase...

10sec have you ever heard of Level 10, or any information about their PTS kits???

Jay is the guy I bought all my parts from 4 years ago to build my C-4. It lasted 3.5 years and finally pooped with the turbo. He know his stuff. If he makes the VB I'g go with it. The kit number 40-3. I got that from him also.
No brake in first means if yu throw it into first gear when slowing it won't go into gear. Kinda goes into N. The transgo kit is the same way, kinda. It nraked when I had 4.11's, but not 3.25's. Might have been when it was slowly going out.

Make sure you tell them the year of your transmission because a 68 is different than the 70 and up and some parts like the valve body won't interchange w/o major mods. I just upgraded my 68 C4 (already had on hand) to racing duty and if I could start over I would of bought a 70 and up C4 from PA. I put in a reverse shift manual valve body and a hardened input shaft and four pinion sun gear and it has lasted one season so far with no issues.
