Roush 2002 sc281

all of the saleen superchargers from 99-04 are inferior to kenne bell's, vortechs, paxtons, ect. Im just saying, pick a car you like with the right wheel/color/hood/seat combo you want, and send less money initially on the car, and just add an aftermarket supercharger system to it. U end up with a car just as reliable, and faster

Cali 281 SC,
I remember the Black E-Car up forsale in your area where they painted the upper half of the car Silverish Grey and threw some after market Wheels on! Yuk, What a Shame, what the owner did to that Saleen!!! Mark at Performance Autosport had an awesome Black E-Car awhile back that was really nice too!:D
One of the Saleen Extremes I came across for that pricing I had mentioned was over this Past Summer, an Original owner that was retired and moving to Florida from another state, other then California! He & his wife had to move the car ASAP! The car caught my eye because it was Sonic Blue! Kinda of like your car!! (Sonic Blue too,.. Right??) It sold for $26,000 and I had offered him lower then that seeing if he'd go for it, not to insult that owner, but you never know!! At that time I was at Crystal Cove for one of the Saturday Car meets way back when & mentioned to Mike with the 2002 Extreme on here about that deal, he was half tempted to dump his car with the mileage he has on it and go for that E-Car! Another E-Car I came across was, believe it or not a dealer trade in on a New SUV! The History! The owner came home with the Saleen (Bought from a private owner) when he was originally suppose to come home with an SUV and the wife caught wind/saw the car and got Pissed off and made the Husband take it somewhere to get what he was suppose to originally come home with! He took a major hit on this car! The funny part was the dealer didn't know what he had & was selling, he thought it was just an S281 SC Convertible, I new better though, I passed on the car and let my good friend know in Viginia about this deal and its been sitting in his garage since then! That car had 11,000 miles it back then! I could have bought an S351 for 17K, a 99 S351 for 25,000 the deal list goes on!!! The problem of What a cars worth/Value here, is what someone would pay for it or offer for it and what the owner would take!! I always ask the seller if they would be offended by an offer and most say No, even if its way low out of the ballpark! You just never know if you make an offer, they might go for it! Marcus, I'm sure knows all about this!! I've been brought up with a father thats mastered that art and today he has a 25+ car collection in which none of the cars he has, did he ever pay top dollar for!! Not Trying to brag here, but I've taken that knowledge and tried to apply it to my car buying experiences too! I've made some rediculous offers and been surprised a few times!!! I wasn't looking to buy my Gold Car, but it just happened,.... a week later after it got here, I could have turned it at Crystal Cove for over $10,000 grand more then what I paid for it, a guy wanted it for his wife!! I didn't go for it, the car was way too much fun back then & right now! Theres deals out there, you just have to do some serious research and looking! I'm not one to give up my sources, E-Bay & Craigs list are just starts! From my experience Mark from Performance Autosport & Marcus might agree, California is not the place to get, buy a Saleen! Everyone knows what they are out here and what they are worth??? Some think they are worth More too!! Outta State with even transporting the car in, State Taxes & licensing going to fly & look at the car drive the car, you'll still most likely come way out ahead!
Racer in Boston, let me know what price, type of car, options, color, mileage, etc.. details are good and I'll start my own search, but I'm the patient type it took 2 years to find my 86 in 1990 and I looked 2 years before I fell into my 2001 so you have to be patient!!! If you not, and want something right now, then your going to ****** up the first thing you think is a deal!! You know..... Money in your pocket waiting to burn a hole through!!! My Advice.... Be Patient! Also, I'll help you anyway I can!!

Gonen20,

Thanks bro! I have ben fortunate to have nice and fAST gt's. A Saleen is a car i want never the less. I currently don't have more than 5k and so I would need to buy a dealer car. As far as miles eh as long as they arent too bad for the yr, I can deal with it, but banks dont usually lend on a 2000 and under car for me. I would be great if I found a 2001 and up car. No rush like yo say and hell gimmie another 2 months and I'll have 15k to put down.

Hey Gonen:

Yeah, it never hurts to throw offers out there. If people get mad, you know you are dealing with the wrong seller. It's all statistics, anyways (the more sellers/cars you target, the better the odds of getting a great deal). I do agree with your thoughts on California cars. The Saleens on the market here are usually dogs and overpriced. Perhaps we tend to use and abuse our cars more than other states.

Yeah, you gotta love those stories where the guy brings home the unannounced new sports car to his wife and says: "Honey, look what I got you!" The reply is usually: "But I don't even know how to drive a stick." The husband replies: "That's ok, I can drive it for you, and you can keep your car!"

Next thing you know, the dude 's ownership of the vehicle is ending before the sun goes down.

I came across a guy with a Sonic Blue E a while back ( I think it was a coupe), he was selling it because he wanted to upgrade to a Ferrari. I think he wanted 39k (probably a different guy).

There was also a guy back east who had a red E coupe. He was willing to do what essentially worked out to be a straight trade on my car give or take a grand. The only problem was that he had wrecked and repaired part of the car. I was concerned this would affect the resale value ( I can't remember if the accident showed up on the carfax), so I turned it down.

Sorry to bore everyone with all of my "the time I almost bought an E" stories. I will move on now.

Happy New Year everybody!

Good Deals

There are some really good deals out there if you are willing to wait for it to come to you. I just picked up an excellent condition 2002 Saleen S-281SC #261 with 66,000 miles for $16,500. It has 6K miles on the engine, and pleny of mods. Cars in San Antonio seem to be a bit cheaper than in other parts of the country... Just keep looking, and it will come.:D
