Has anyone heard about ford. And them selling the rights to the mustang to toyota. My brothers father-in-law is a business lawyer and keeps up on corporate mergers and aqusitions and things like that. He says that with ford's financial troubles the company has sold the mustang to toyota in someway. Just wondering the actual story and whats going on

Insanity

Agreed......

Think of the obvious reasons why it would NEVER happen:

1. Toyota would have to pay Ford way too much to get a name that their customers still associate with junk.

2. Supra.............

3. The Mustang is the only car Ford is able to move and not offer rebates and deals on (i know they do but not on the cars most of us want).

4. Hardcore Mustang enthusiasts would never buy a Mustang made or owned by Toyota.

Merger

I had heard that Ford was teaming up with Toyota, and I think thats true. But my guess is they would never turn over the Mustang to the Japanese to have there way with. I dont think its because Ford cares about us Mustang owners that much, as its just a money thing.

I mean, what other car in Fords corrall sells like the Mustang? Why would Ford cuts its own throat when sales suck so bad. I dont have any evidence to any of this, but everything is allways about money.

is Ford really suffering like im hearing.Like facing possible flop............???

No. They are struggling for sure, but what hardly gets reported is that Ford is not in debt. They do have lots of debt, but the assets are greater than the debt owed. That's where you get into trouble. The equivalant would be to someone who owns a home with a mortgage. They have debt (gotta pay the mortgage) but as long as the house is worth more than the mortgage, they are not in debt. If I'm reading the most recent financials correctly, they have assets of $267 billion with a total liability of $258 billion. They are "mortgaged" out pretty far, but they are still a couple years away from being in trouble.

Back to the subject at hand, there's no freakin' way Ford sells out the Mustang name. The only way I see that happening is if Ford ceases to exist and the rights go up for sale in bankruptcy proceedings and that is not happening anytime soon.

The only thing I heard was that Ford and Toyota were possibly getting together to share technology/information.

The Media led us all down an incorrect path... I too thought this was true until I read a statement by Allen Mullay in the newspaper stating that he had only gone to Japan to learn about lean Manufactuing from the experts.

LOL. How do you say mustang in japanese......muusang

I thought it was VTAK

Agreed......

Where have you been Rip Van Winkle? Ford has rebates on Mustangs, including the GT. There are rebates on both 2007 models AND left over 2006s that STILL have not sold, even though 2006 production ended 6 months ago.

Thanks for warning me to NEVER hire your brother's, father-in-law to represent me for anything, because he appears to have his info totally screwed up.

The day Ford sells the Mustang to the Japanese (Toyota) or whoever ?? will be the day both hell freezes over and Pigs fly...Just what in the hell was your brother's father in law smokin ? I'd much rather see Ford go under than sell out our beloved Stang over to anybody...So what's going to be the next practical joke ??? Humm I got it ? Ford merges with Daimler/Chrysler huh :rlaugh: :rlaugh: :rlaugh:
