What cam for Explorer Topend?

I'm going to get a set of GT40 heads and an Explorer intake manifold with TB. What cam should I run? I'm thinking about using a TFS Stg 1. The car is pretty stock, 4.10's, 5spd, longtubes, and 2.5" catless exhaust. I also have a set of 24# injectors with a 76mm C&L MAF that will go on with the H/C/I.

Thanks,
Frankie

The stage 1 is a good of the shelf cam. I run one in my 93. Originally it had a GT40 intake and P heads. Swapped the intake for a TFS track heat. Was pretty happy with both combos with the stage 1 cam.

my bro went with the tf1 one cam, I went with the HO cam. Really the HO cam isn't bad at all even with gt40/p heads and intake.

Are you talking about the stock 87-93 cam?

Adjustable timing gear and a stock cam degreed... Our GT40P combo runs very well with this set up!

I'm doing all of the work myself and I dont know how to degree a cam. I'm not even sure what degreeing means lol. Is adjusting the cam timing to work where I want it to degreeing? If so, how do you figure out how far to move it?

I'm doing my H/C/I right now , using pretty much an explorer set up . Ported gt-40p's with Cobra intake . I installed an E-cam because I wanted to stay brand specific on all my parts . I'll let ya know how she runs very soon!

The E-cam with the explorer set is a decent runnign set-up. Put one in a an Explorer motor I did for a guys 90GT. The e-cam should of been the stock cam for the 93 Cobra's IMO. Works well with with the GT-40 heads and Cobra/Explorer intake.

But I would run the TFS stage 1 personally. That is a really nice OFS cam. Sounds killer and performs real good. This cam is liek the old Lunati 51014 & Wolverine 1087 of the day..

id pick something else other than an e cam, they were good, but cam tech has come such a long way.

cammotion.com 130 bucks or so for a fully custom cam to your specs, needs etc etc cant go wrong that way

My setup is a set of worked 93 cobra heads, explorer manifold, and the tfs 1 cam. I love it, it still has good power down low but just pulls harder and harder up top. very streetable with a great lope to it. I havent had it dynoed yet but I ran dead even with a coupe that put down 287 to the wheels, and my car is a decent bit heavier.
