I am gonna get boosted soon, so i was looking at gauges and i see they sell them mechanical and electronic, whats the difference? whats best for our cars? im looking at the cobalt gauges. Which gauges should i get also, i was thinking boost and fuel pressure.

mechanical boost - it jsut uses a plastic line going in teh car. for any fluids use electrical. they are more money, but you dont want oil/fuel/water/etc. coming into the car, and risking a burst line inside the car.

boost/vac and fuel pressure are the best to have with FI

I disagree, but to each their own. I think Boost/Vac and Oil are musts. Yea, Fuel is great, but if you have no fuel, the car won't run. Simple. However, if you're leaking oil, you can watch your oil guage slowly drop in psi and shut her down before. Fuel though, if nothing is there, pop! done.

As for the cobalt guages, great choice! :nice:

AmBo, how did you get the blue on your gauge cluster? Is that an overlay or a completely different cluster? I like the way it looks. What did you do with your HVAC controls and radio?

If you're looking for that kind of information, do it right and get a wideband

A wideband doesn't measure fuel pressure. And before you say, "I know that." .. consider that just because a wideband tells you you're lean or rich, it doesn't tell you why. And without a fuel pressure gauge, you have no idea if it's fuel delivery related or not.. which in boosted applications is very important.
