I was just wondering if a 2.5" catback will bolt right up to the stock h pipe on my 86gt or if not what needs to be done to make it work. And would adding an offroad H make much of an improvement over stock.....would I feel the change?

yup if you get a cat back for your year it will bolt up to the stock H pipe.
I had an 86 Gt and its cool cuz you get to run your pipes striaght out and everyone can see the tips. I noticed a little diffrents when I changed my whole exhaust I just like the sound better. It depends on where you live if you wanna switch to no cats cuz I dont know you emissions laws.

It will work no problem at all. Glad to see another guy with an 86. Your 86 really needs heads to allow your engine to breathe. The 86 heads were more restrictive then the 87-93 heads. thus the reason they were rated at 200 hp instead of 225hp. however that being said you do not have fly cut pistons so picking a head is tricky. Also since it is a maps car and not Mass air flow it is also tricky. Happy modding.

the cat back you are looking for is most easily found as an 87-93 LX 5.0 system. sometimes the vendors neglect to include 86 GT, even though its identical. just a little tidbit to help clarify things. and like already mentioned, it will all bolt right up. the hardest part is getting everything aligned properly.

Thanks for the replies, I already have the catback from my 85gt, it had been connected to a catted Mac H but an idiot that helped clean out my garage scrapped the H when I was at work. Man I was pi&*ed when I found that out. Anyway thanks again.
