headlight wiring

sorry, i'm an electrical idiot; by "common" do you mean ground? and what's the third wire? there's a black wire, a white wire (with a diffrent color stripe for both sides), and one other wire I don't remember what color it is. ??? sorry for my ignorance, but I need a little help here. thanks fellas

the common wire is shared between ur low beams and high beams as a return path for the current. black is common. white should be ur low beams (mine doesnt have a different color stripe on each side) and i think the high beams are green (i cud be wrong). whats the specific problem ur having?

thanks for the replies fellas, I'm trying to install some headlights. they have leds and I'm not exactly sure what to hook them up to. the lights have a plug that just plugs right in to the factory harness (no problem there), but then it also has a bunch of white (power) and black (ground) wires that I need to hook up. I've got them installed, but I just wanted to double check to make sure I wasn't f***king anything up. thanks again

Headlight ISSUES

I have a 98 V6 Mustang. Been having a problem that is progressively getting worse. After the car has been running for at about 15-20 minutes or more, the headlights (low beams) will just turn off. If I pull in on the dimmer lever for a few seconds (4-5) the low beams will come back on. Then a few minutes later, same thing happens again. Any suggestions/ideas would be greatly appreciated!
