I met a painter thats gonna strip a '67 Notch for its drivetrain for his '65. I wonder how much its worth to keep the shell and build it in the future? Its rough. Someone planned to paint it, maybe that guy, and some spots are sanded to bare metal.
i dont know what its worth out there in LA as far as rough goes ,but here in ohio what you guys call rusted out junk we call rust free dreams so if the price is right id grab it
Starting with a shell can really free up your attitude towards what you can do with the car. I mean, while you might be reluctant to cut up a nice, low milege, one-owner car, you can tub a shell with no worries whatsoever. Most people are to intimidated to try something new on their pride and joy, but you could do whatever you want with this one.
If it is just missing the drivetrain then it is a perfect candidate for a project, if it is just a shell then there's so much small stuff missing that the cost will probably be too high to restore unless you go with a race-car theme.
My car was a driver when I started the project but since then I have replaced every single component in the drivetrain, so having a mostly complete car minus drivetrain would have actually been preferable.
Don't know if you have the space, tools and ability, but you could restore the shell and swap all your stuff over. Or, you could restore the shell and put it in epoxy primer with all bodywork done ready to paint and sell it.
