If you put a stock 96-98 Gt motor in your 95 then its a big waste of time. The HP ratings are the same. Just a thought. It's easier to beef up your existing 5.0. The parts are plentiful and much cheaper than a 4.6L.

Depending on the condition of your 95, I would think you could probably get a 96 for cheaper. People seem to value the 94-95 more because of the 5.0L.
If you REALLY want to put a modular in a 94-95, why not go with a DOHC 5.4L? It doesn't make sense to swap in a 4.6 when you can just go buy a 96-98 to start with. If you really want to do it, you'll need all the 4.6 electronics, a new k-member, and new brake booster setup. I'm sure there's more, but I don't know what else you need because I've never looked into it.
even if your going to do a 5.4 you might as well get a 96-98 first anyway, it has the same motormounts and electronics. This is a giant waste of time IMO. you will waste more money getting the car up to stock than on the performance side of it. go buy a 96-98 cobra and sell the 95 and start over.

dont do it just to be different....how about a 427 stroker? lol it would probably cost the same amount by the time your done!
think, wiring harness, computer, motor mounts, hydroboost, coolant catch can ,etc
If you dead set on a 4.6 try and find a modular cobra car crashed or something and do a complete swap!....you will go crazy trying to find all the small things

The 5.4 will fit, I've seen it done before.

He asked what would be necessary to do this, not why YOU wouldn't. (However, it's is a good idea to "tell the truth" about the difficulties.)
I would like to see an 03-04 Cobra engine in a 94-95. (I just like this body style better.) That would be cool! I don't see what the big deal would be for the wiring, Ford uses modular harnesses for almost everything. All you would need is the power connections for your car to the later model harness, so the later harness would do it's thing. The crossmember should bolt in. (Use one from ANY 4.6 Mustang.) The later models used a returnless fuel system, so that could be a small issue. You would definitely need a complete donor car, in my opinion.
Of course, you could start with a 96-98 and add a Cobra engine to that. It seems like that would be easier. Just put some 94-95 tail lights in the newer car.

i'm with the others. you'd have a much easier time swapping it into a 96-98 because the harness and computer are already setup for it and the ignition system and all that.

if you want to get into dohc, it might be easier just to buy a 96+ cobra..
I like the dohc engine, especially with turbos on it
I know they are smaller engines but I like the way they sound too
btw 03 cobra engine swap into a 94-95 looks like a MAJOR PITA

Well I see alot of negativity here, lol...Im in the middle of my 94 3.8 to 4.6 32v mustang swap right now. It is hard but it's the challenge thats the best part, the day i fire it up i will cry out of happiness!
you do have to change the k-member, computer, wiring, cant use a mark viii intake lol, for brakes, i used a 85 dodge p-u manual brake cyl, theres alot of things, but theres alot of easy solutions too. I say if you want that 32V, then go for it, and dont let anyone tell you to buy a different car, F%&K THAT!

If you want to try to do something really different and challenging, why not put in the modular engine but leave the 5.0 electronics. About the only thing that is really different is the ignition. An MSD can take care of that. I'm sure you'd have to make some wiring adapters and such. Just a thought.

I am in agreement..........if I was going to swap.....I would hit a 408 or something.....if you want the mod engine I would make a purchase before the trouble of switching.... but good luck though
