Dammit!

lol....

Can't figure this crap out.....I install delete plates and 3.73's and the car is over a half second slower in the quarter now, and about 4 mph slower.....

It's not a wheelspin or a launch problem. Something is up with the car.

Question is ( I asked this elsewhere but no one answered, haha ) could it be the tune? Can the tune really make that big of a difference?

I mean, going from a stock car with stock gears ( 3.31's ) to 3.73's should make the car quicker, right?

This is definitely annoying. :nonono: :rlaugh:

I'm sure you did, but just to ask, did you have a new tune loaded to accommodate the delete plates?

I installed them and ran consistently faster at my track (.1 and .2), and with the gears, I would think that you'd be quicker. Can you give a before and after time slip? If you don't have one scanned, do you remember the times?

About these delete plates:

I was talking with an employee at my stealership today about performance stuff. He mentioned that these runners are used to switch from using the shorter runners in the intake manifold in low rpm's to using the longer runners in higher rpm's??? Or vice versa.

Anyway, if his info is correct (and I'm not completely off the mark), have these delete plates been proven to increase tq/hp? To be honest, this 3v stuff is kinda weird/not even sure how it works.

Sorry to be off-topic, but, are all three valves in constant use? I think that Cadillac had a car that would shut down some valves for economy??? Again, sorry to be off-topic and for asking an odd question, just trying to better understand this 3v.:SNSign:

Tell the guy at your dealership to keep away from any S197's.
My Acura has dual runners not the S197's. what the CMRC plates do is partially block the runners at low rpm to increase velocity and swirl.

I had a similar problem, but I spoke with my tuner (bamachips) and he readjusted my tune for me.

After I first installed the delete plates, I was running about .1-.2 slower and about 1 mph slower at my track even when we had a much more favorable DA than normal. Doug@Bama played with the timing a little and now all is well.

Just speak with whoever you got your tune from, or get a custom tune.

Yeah he had it confused with one of the old Cobra intakes that did have dual runners
long ones for low-end torque and short ones for high-end hp. They had IMRC's (Intermediate Runner Control?) and of course those also had delete plates that freed up hp. Answering your valve question they are all constantly working when the engine is although at variable degrees thanks to Variable Cam Timing.

I do have a tune for the gears/plates.

That's the problem I think. I think its in the tune but I think it has to do with the shift points. the car feels like it's got power, but it's not getting to the ground like it should. the car will hesitate upon upshifts, sometimes upshifting then downshifting again right away.
