I have 18x8" rims going on my car and have decided on 245/40/18's for tire size, but im out of the loop as far as what brand i should get. These will be my nice tires, not for racing.

One person has told me that Falken's sidewalls suck. So what brand should i get that wont break the bank?

i have toyo proxies. 640 balanced and installed.

I get a discount through tire rack, and can mount & balance them myself, so im not too worried about that.. ive just heard mixed reviews on certain brands of tires.

For what kind of driving...............

No drag racing, just normal street driving. I cant afford tickets, so ill be picking up a set of drag lites with slicks for the track.

By the way, im also trying to figure out how wide i can go on an 8" rim for the rear tires. If i can get away with them being a little wider than the fronts, then i will. I have megabite jr LCA's and removed the quad shocks if that helps

I've had:

Kelly- Loved them. For the price they're good. Hard rubber though.

Faulkin- Whover invented those needs to do the world a favor and off themself. Seriously, I don't wish death on anyone, but the Faulkin inventor is up there with Hitler and Satan on my list.

GoodYear- Awsome... Nuff said

Michelin- Awesome- Nuff said

Kumho- A lot like kelly, hard rubber but good enough for daily driving.

General- #2 on my hate list.

Bridgestone- Potenza is a great soft road tire but wears out quickly

michiline however its spelled are the best everyday tires to get by far. Awesome sidewalls and tread. (worked at a sears tire center for a little over a year)

I had Michelin pilots a while back and maybe it was just the style, but those things rode kinda rough to me

My kumo ecsta supra's are the *****- no complaints at all.

Im looking at the Ecsta SPT's at the moment.. looks like they have good reviews, and decent prices

Lmao... i remember you saying that about the Falkens, thats why i said that in the original post. I think ill limit to 3 brands as of right now.. Ill look into different styles of the Michelins, the goodyears and the Kuhmos.

Thanks for all the replies. I looked into the Nittos, and they are just a little out of my price range, as are toyos and some of the other ones mentioned. I talked to a few people and called the place i got my rims from.. they all recommended the Kuhmos. I went ahead and ordered them and sent one of our techs after them, i should have them before the end of the day.. WOHOOOO!

I like my falken ze512s. Decent tire for the price I don't care what anyone says. Those all season tires put down a 1.905 r/t with ONLY KYB shocks/struts on the car. No SFC's or anything. Mods were full exhaust, 3.73s, shifter, maf, tb, cai, and rpm intake.

If it is just normal street driving, with that very low profile, the Falken 115 is just the ticket to smooth out the ride a bit.It is the most comfortable and quietest you can get and doesn't give up much in handling to any others....none that you would notice.

If your not looking for anything specific then any cheap tire will do imo. I have the nitto street radials, and theyve lasted for just about two years now, theyve taken ALOT of miles, and ALOT of burnouts, and im still driving on them, they are bald though. But ill be buying these again, their not that expensive.

I would suggest the BF Goodrick KDWS tires. They look great and get great dry and wet traction. I have had several types of tires on mustang's throught the years and these are the best by far.

yep thats what im runnin. great tire and they last a very long time.

i also run Michelin Pilot Primacy's but they are a bit more expensive and i got em for dry weather
