Cracking noise when turning

I need some pointers on where to look. Just changed the inner / outer tie rods on my 94 Cobra, and I had hoped that would cure the crack / popping noises made when I turn the steering wheel, at speed or standing still. It didn't have an impact. Where should I look now? Thanks in advance for your help.

Typically, any moving part should be inspected. If the tie rods didn't solve the problem (which is what I would have tried first, too), chances are you have a bad balljoint.

Thanks for the advise. Yes, the tie rods were shot, and the steering is tighter... but the dreaded creaking front end is still there. Thanks for the reply.
