Check the front heights as well. It's often a kitty-corner pitch issue. Like in your case, if the driver front is higher than the passenger front, this would be possible.

Otherwise, it can simply be a slightly tweaked unibody. Any hard maneuvers without SFC's can do it.

Well, thanks for the wish of luck! When I put my wheels and tires on I went in for an alignment and they told me that my driver front strut tower was pushed in too far so they couldn't correct the alignment perfectly. FYI, this car has been in a wreck about 14 years ago, which I knew about but didn't figure I would see any issues.. HA.

So now I have to set up with a body shop to get the thing pulled out and lined up. I guess I will wait to see how everything turns out before I start throwing parts at it.

I have the worst luck in the world....
 
Actually the lean is quite common...the Corral had a 10page thread regarding the lean. Most came to the conclusion that the body had twisted to some degree though abuse was not always considered the cause. I know I have yet to see one car that sat perfect when the measuring tape came out...I myself have a 1/2 lean that remains even after all components were replaced front and back.
 
Mine i believe also has a lean. But i installed Sub-Frame connectors as soon as I got the car. Un fortunetally You can't undo the 15 or 16 years worth of damgae the previuos owners had done. I just won't add to it.
 
I'll try and get some pictures up so you guys can see what I'm talking about. It's so drastic ( atleast in my picky eye ) that when I see it from a distance it looks like my right rear tire is flat. It pisses me off lol.

I will also try and get a pic up of the strut tower I mentioned. I never paid much attention to the paint line that visible from it being so far off. :nonono:
 
Derek, I rememeber that 10 pager - it was a doozy. Some threads have a DUW - that one should have had a ASW (ASpriin Warning). The off-pitch aspect I mentioned (though apparently not an issue for IP's ride) was one thing mentioned in that thread.

IP, don't read anything into my wishing you luck. I've probably said that 15K times in here (I almost always say it - it's means what it means and is not an indication of a CF).

The body being damaged probably doesn't help, but it may also be partially caused by broken coil springs. Both of my cars had a coil broken that I never saw until I changed the springs. Both were a front spring though. Sometimes you can't tell they're broken until they are removed because they break off down in the spiring pocket on the control arm.
 
frankenstang and i were just discussing the "lean" issue in a talk thred. I guess this is more common than I thought. Doesn't make me feel much better about it though :( I would love to rectify the issue.
 
wouldnt it be possible to correct the lean when you install new subframes? you could support the chassis on 4 points with the two fronts being level with each other and the back being level with each other? i would imagine that the weight if the car would bend "untwist" the car. Then if you installed subframes with it evened out, i would imagine that it would correct most of it?

Im sure someone has tried this.... so im waiting to be shot down here:D
 
i dont know if it would work that easily.. i almost think in some ways the car isnt heavy enough or its not bent in that way on the subframes. i have a reallllly bad ganster lean - im replacing all the springs (stock 1990 4 banger units) are in there now and im hoping thats the cause to most of my leaning problems
 
Actually I think it would take more that just resting the body on stands. You would probably have to have it pulled. I just recently ran across a thread. The guy had the car on stands on level concrete. It was only hitting 3 of the 4 stands.

I do wonder if you could get it somewhat closer to even with coilovers. Probably not the best for traction, but at least you could have a little adjustment.

How far is the car from being aligned? Could caster/camber plates get it in spec without going to the frame shop? Or is the frame shop cheaper than the plates?

It's so far off it's gross lol. I'm not really familia with the process of an alignment, but I got to see the guys screen and it showed my little bar being off the scale, so I don't know. I have to get the whole strut tower pulled out, it's got about 1/4 inch of exposed paint. I am working on pics so you guys can understand.

look how bad my car sits it lean realy bad to the front. i dont know what to do about it. there is liek a 4"
difference dtween my coupe and my GT and they both have stock springs and on my coupe the fender is close to 4" above the back driver side tire an on the passenger side its like 2.5-3" and up front its 2" driver and 2.5" passenger. its like it has truck cols on it or something. i dont know what to do about it

The driver front of my car will bind when I put it up on jacks/let it back down and make the passenger rear sit lower. It looks like I got friggin hydraulics on it until I start up the 351W and the solid motor mounts. Shakes it right down. To be that bad of a lean all the time that you describe and that BK has pictures of on his car, there has to be some suspension problems somewhere (broke spring, binding front/rear control arms) unless previous body damage is evident then it is time for the frame shop.

im having a similar problem. only my car is leaning to the driver side front thus bringing the back passenger wheel well up. im hoping when i put new springs on this corrects it. my car was a 4 banger convert and the springs were never switched out so im hoping this is the problem.

thats what im hoping for too. im gonna put lowering springs on it and hope it drops A BUNCH it realistically need to come down 4-5"'s or so inches in the back and 3"'s or so in the front. and those springs ar way too stiff on ther now.

My buddy had a similar problem on his coupe that had a different rear end in it out of a thunderbird. His ass end was up real high, he put new control arms ( U & L ) then put different spring on and it didn't help much. Mind you they weren't lowering spring either. His solution? Buy bigger slicks... :nice:
