Help with motor Decision!!!

Ok guys, this is my problem. I have a 90 gt with an 86 block that has about 186 thousand miles on it. I the only thing stock on it is heads. I was wondering if I were to put a vortech on it and run say 10lbs of boost do you guys think it would hold up long enough to get me to the end of the summer when I am going to build my 331. Also do you think it would be alright to run the stock heads with the charger? Or do you guys think I should just wait untill next fall and build and supercharge a 331. And also what kind of gas milealage would I be looking at with he supercharger. I will also be getting a little banger truck to drive everyday so I probably wont be driving the car most of the time. Any help, or hints are appreciated guys. thanks.

It will hold up if the engine is in good running condition. Are the rings holding? whats the compression on each cylinder? Probably 8 pounds is the most i would run. Is the 86 engine converted to mass air?

No actually sorry for the confusion. All it is is an 86 shortblock with all the accsesories off of my 90. I havent done a compression check yet, but will this weekend. It holds excellent oil pressure, but does smoke just a tiny bit in the high rpms, but it is running kinda rich right now.

if it is burning oil then i would say you have a little issue with rings since it isn't on start up which would point you in the direction of valve seals. 10 pounds of boost is only going to make this problem more apparent. If you don't mind burning oil then go for it.
