can install a MAF motor into a speed density car? i bought a 88 GT thats speed density and the motor is no good. well i knew it when i purchased the car and didnt care because i have excellent running spare MAF motor with all accessories in my gargage. can i install it and if i didn't convert my car to MAF with the harness and computer what benefits would i sacrafice? should i just piece together a used maf system?

By converting to mass air you have better options for intake systems. When putting on an after market intake the spd dosent like them to where a maf system loves them! Oh did i mention i have a maf conversion for sale minus MAF? P.M me if instrested. peace

There are tons of articles on here for the benefits of maf to speed desity. I just converted a speed density harness to an maf style and it didn't take too long. You only have to run about 6 wires from the ecm and switch around a couple of the wires. here is a link on how to do it. It is very straight forward. http://www.popsracing.com/tech/mafconversion.pdf. Another benefit is if you want to run a healthy cam. The map sensor for the speed density has trouble following the surges of air and will run like crap.

it'll swap no problem, but if you're car has the stock HO cam, and not too many mods, there is no point, really...the early speed density cars were known to be the fastest. I'd save the mass air stuff for when you get heavy on the mods...even then.. I'm running gt40p heads stock mustang HO cam, ported explorer intake and full bolt ons with speed density, and it handles it great..>I'm going to do a mass air swap just to see if it makes a difference, but I'm skeptical.

yeah i'm not sure what to do yet. i found a guy with the computer and harness who's selling it for $170 shipped. I have the MAF sensor/ meter already what else would i need? is that it?
