OK, got her settled in and took some pics. I'm really still learning about Mustangs so forgive my ignorance for awhile on some of the questions of topics I post. I had an LS1 Camaro SS for 5 years and actually am still a Moderator on LS1Tech.com.

One of my first questions is do I have the "deluxe" interior or what exactly is that?

Well that's enough pics for now before I get too carried away.

Thanks

Wow! That looks really nice, congrats

Edit: No that isn't a pony interior, its a standard from what I know.
Here's a link that includes all the conversions and differences.
http://www.karmustang.com/pony_interior_conversion_kit.php

Differences include: Wood grain trim on glove compartment, and around the gauges bezel. Different door handles, Usually a 2 tone interior, and you may not be able to see it in the pictures but the seat backs have running horses on them.

Thanks ALL for the compliments and thanks for the clarification on the interior.

I have a couple of questions that I would like some opinions on. I bought this car due to the previous owner's attention to detail during the restoration process and from my research so far, his attention to authenticity in restoring it to stock form. All the decal placements are correct, engine colors, etc. I am intending on carrying on that attention by not modifying the car in any MAJOR way. However, I do have a couple questions as to some things I would like to consider:

1) I really like the look of the luggage racks that were available on these. Would that be a good item to add or does that take away from the originality of this car?

2) I like the Pony interior, but again I don't want to take away from the orginal car. Is that something that is OK to do and if so, does it in anyway conflict with the trim tag codes on the door.

3) I've read a lot of people are doing disc brake swaps and that's my major conflict. I do want the added safety of the modern brakes, but does that alter the value or again take away too much from the originality of the car.

Thanks for putting up with these elementary questions.

my 2 cents
1.) Luggage rack, i'm not sure that's more of a personal choice i think.
2.) I do believe that there was a different code for the pony interior, Standard has an A and luxury has B and bench seats ahve a C. They also classify the color of the interior.
3.) In terms of the brakes, I think you should go for em, especially if you have the funds and if you're gonna keep those rims. Cause the way I see it, you wouldn't be able to see them cause they're gonna be covered up anyway.

Any modificaitons are your choice, I'm in a similar position as you are except mine doesn't look as great as yours. Personnaly if I had the funds I would definately have gone for a new disc brake set up, especially cause mine is my daily driver.

If it is your daily driver you should add your own flare. :nice:

Hope that helps.

Gawd, that's beautiful!

1.) I'm clueless about whether or not there were "factory" luggage racks. Somebody help me out here!

2.) The "deluxe interior" shows up on the door tag, so it would be noticeable. I think you could get all new parts to have the Pony interior; then keep your (extremely good) original interior in a decently controlled environment for use to return the car to "concours correct" later.

3.) Aaaaay-men on the brakes! Again, this would undoubtedly show up on a door tag or build sheet; but again, there are bolt-on (and therefore removable) solutions, just save theold components. Seeing the stick-shift on the floor, I'm gonna make a WAG and say that the only issue you might run into would be trying to fit a power brake booster (vacuum servo) around your clutch linkage. If you don't mind the manual pedal, you could conceivably have 4 wheel discs, without the power assist; and again all "bolt-on" (or "bolt-off" later). For this last question, economical answers can best be found at the website of a StangNet old-timer: www.ultrastang.com :nice: Steve's work isn't your average "backyard engineering"; there's a lot more emphasis on the "engineering" part!

I also like the luggage rack. Whether you add it or not, that is your choice. If you like it, add it. Unless you have a buildsheet, there is no way to prove whether the car can with one or not.

2) I like the Pony interior, but again I don't want to take away from the orginal car. Is that something that is OK to do and if so, does it in anyway conflict with the trim tag codes on the door.

Again, if you prefer the Pony interior, go for it. As far as the data tag, just get a new one from Marti Auto. He will not make any changes in the vin, but will have no problem changing the interior codes to match what you put into the car.

This will only hurt the resale value if someone is looking for an absolutely correct car, otherwise a person who is looking to buy a clean car will probably think that it is a good addition.

PS, PM sent.

Very nice car. We welcome you from coming over from the Dark Side. ;)

I believe the luggage racks were a dealer add on. If you like it, my suggestion is to get another deck lid, paint it to match and install it on that one.

Same for the interior, aquire another set of seats and put the pony interior on them.

Again with the brakes, save your stock parts to reinstall later.

All this is assuming you have facilities to store such treasures.

You'll get far more looks and thumbs up with this car than your LS1 SS, but you'd likely get the same from a clean '67 Camaro as well.
