I got a deal on a 02 Gt engine and have been tearing it down. The oil pan is off but the bottom is sitting on a tire. Got any ways to get that balancer off, the engine wants to turn over of course.

I thought about sticking something underneath the engine to stop the crank from spinning, by locking it up. Then just put some 'muscle' into it and break it loose.

I guess I could try to find a impact wrench...

Any ideas fellas?

I won't be reusing the bottomend anyways or the balancer.

I do not have a torch, impact, or strap wrench.

I was thinking I could use something to pry the crank in place so it will not rotate and then just get a break-over bar and break it loose.

Keep the ideas coming, maybe a friend/family member has one...

you can get 12v impact wrenches that are good for simple jobs like this, i once used one to pull the crank pulley off a ford focus..

something like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180093507177 but im sure you guys must get them over there too... they're ok for wheel lugs and the occassional thing here and there but i have personally destoyed 3 already from over-usage

:D
