I've had my notch listed on autotrader for like 3 months now, (not sure if this will work)

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.j...oors=&transmission=&max_price=11000&cardist=0

Asking $10K with everything I had for it, all original parts that came off the car, Pony wheels, new Cobra R's with new tires, mounted slicks and skinnies. I've had about a million calls on it since it's been posted but nobody could ever come up with a decent dollar amount.

Then yesterday, around 1pm my time I get a call from a guy in California (I'm in WI mind you) who says it's his dream car and wants me to hold it for him. So I'm like, 'yeah right, sure, I'll hold it for you, just let me know when you're close', figuring I'd never hear from the guy again. This morning at 10am I get a call from a local number and it's the guy, said he's at the Comfort Suites down the road and wants to come buy the car. So I arrange for some back up as this seems like a really shady deal so far and tell the guy to meet me at the clubhouse out front of my townhouse in 30 minutes.

30 minutes later he's there. Says the car looks great, wants to take it for a test drive so I said sure and I walked over to my buddies car to tell him to follow us in case this crazy guy wants to jack my car or something, but then the guy says 'ah, nevermind, it sounds great, I don't need to drive it' and pulls out a fat wad of cash and hands it to me.

I was like WTF, that's it, no questions no looking or inspecting anything?????? I said 'Ok, then I want $8500 for it and I'm keeping the Cobra R's like we discussed over the phone, we settle on $8350, I check all the bills, take it to the bank who checks them and then deposits the money into my account.

So now this guy just bought my car and I'm totally busted here changing the wheels and putting the Ponys back on and we get to talking. The guy flew in last night, bought a same day leaving in an hour plane ticket, the same day we talked on the phone (which he asked no questions about the car either), took a $250 taxi ride from Chicago, IL to Lake Geneva, WI, got a room at the comfort Suites and just bought my car for more than I paid for it.

Didn't want the slicks or skinnies, just the car, the bra which I only used like once, and a battery relocation kit that I had yet to install.

I'm busting with the excitment, but also crushed that my car is gone, it hasn't sunk in yet I don't think.

yeah...uh, whoa. ive always asked myself what i would do if some guy came out of no where and told me he'd give me a crazy deal like that....i still dont know what i would do...
i think id regret getting rid of the car! ...thats cool tho man, congrats and sorry at the same time!

I just don't understand that. Why would the guy not want to test drive it? Either he's very incompetent, very trusting, very wealthy, or a combination of the three.

I assume he's driving it back to Cali? Who can get time off work on such short notice to go buy a car? Amazing.

I paid $7500 shipped for my GT back in '03; it had a powerdyne then. I would have much rather bought yours and I don't even like coupes

Congrats:flag:

Right, and then add on another $500-650 for gas depending how he drives it. When I drove it nice I only got 15mpg and it's like 1800 miles from here to CA. It's just nuts. I paid $7400 for it when the paint was great, I smeared the garage 3 times with it and only deducted value from it, it still looked nice though. But he just took off in it, didn't want the slicks or Centerline wheels, nothing. I think I got a great deal, miss the car though.

What was your reason for selling such a tits car like that again? From a sellers point of view it sure worked out but I would have a real lump in my throat selling a car like that unless there was a 04 cobra in my driveway.

I rented a car and drove 5 hrs to get my 90 GT a couple years ago, all I saw was pics of it, took it for a short test drive, gave the dude cash and drove it back home:D

I ordered my 04 Mach 1 without ever seeing one in person, just saw it in a magazine, and said ***** I gotta have one of those:nice:

:jaw: wow.... so he probably is just shippin it out?

No get this, when I was changing the wheels we were in the garage talking and he says this, and this is going to kill you guys, 'I will probably get it painted, green, and then get yellow interior, hardwood floors, and daytons'. It was just killing me to hear that. But at that point the cashwas already in my bank account.

Well the paint looked great from a few feet and don't get me wrong it was a blast to own that car for 2 years, but all of its little imperfections, being that it was an 18 year old car would just drive me nuts sometimes. That's why I listed it high and had it for sale for months, I figured sooner or later somebody will want the car bad enough to pay me what I want for it, that day came today.

So you sold it to a Messican?

I'm sure he was being sarcastic about the mods. lol Either way, that's a crazy story. Just last night a guy practically cornered me at the gas station. He said he's been looking for another Fox bod and started drilling me with questions about mine's ('92). He kept trying to get me to throw out a selling price and I'd respond with, "how are you looking to spend?". I've gotten a couple offers now and then but no one has been this persistant. After 10 minutes of "man, I'll be hanging on to this car for a while", I threw out $7,000. That toned him down a little bit but he asked for my email anyway.

That would be crazy if it was the same guy. Doubt it though since my car doesn't come close to the one you sold.

I hate to say it but I think he was serious about what his plans were for the car. I gave him my email and he said he would send pictures of it's progress into his dream car so I guess I'll have to keep you guys posted on what such a beautiful notch (less the wing) becomes.

I layed awake for hours last night thinking, where's my car now?, where's my car now I wonder? It was driving me nuts. When he left with the car I heard him hitting every gear for like 3 stoplights down the road, it could be wrecked already?????:notnice: :nonono:  :notnice:

That happend with a guy in my area. One day he shows up at my house in a beautiful Calypso Coupe talking all kinds of s**t. The car had slicks and skinnies, built C4, AFR heads, Vortech SC, the works. Inside and out, the car was nearly immaculate. Obviously I wouldn't have stood a chance so I didn't bother racing him. I knew he didn't realize what he had when he kept bragging about beating my friends BONE STOCK LS1 SS in the 1/4. He had the car barely two weeks before totalling it. It was clear from the beginning he had no appreciation for the work the previous owner put into it. All I could think was, "someone's blood, sweat and tears gone to waste". :nonono:
