Nitto 555's

ok, i know this has probably been asked 100 times, but after looking at all the low profile tires on these cars, i personally think they need a little taller tire on the rear. i am looking into a 295/45/18 for the rear of my wife's car. i know they are about 1" taller than stock, but it should fill up the fender well nicely, plus our car is lowered too, so it should look good, right? i know the Nitto's run smaller than most tires width wise, and i am going to be running a 9" wide wheel on the back. anybody else running this tire size on a lowered mustang? if so, got any pics, advise? any rubbing issues? i have seen one mustang on another site running the 305/45/18 DR's from Nitto and it looks sweet!

The 295/45/18's are about 28.45'' tall. That's nearly in inch and a half taller than stock. The 305/45/18's are about 28.8'' taller. That's almost 2'' taller than stock. I'd like to have a 305/40/18 in a drag radial which would be 27.6'' tall.

I have the Nitto 555 DRs 305/45/18s they are on 18 by 10 DD chrome bullitts. My car is lowered 1.5". It looks awesome, fills the wheel well out very nicely. I have never had an issue with rubbing.

got any pics? i am not concerned they are taller than stock, actually prefer it myself. i used to run BFG DR's on my old 92 coupe 275/60/15 and they filled up the wheel well nicely...

What's been keeping me from buying them is I don't want the ass end of the car to looked jacked up at all do to the taller tires. Any pics on a level surface?

The 305/45/18's are perfect. I thought you were going to go with them anthony05. I have them and they rock.

man, those do look sweet...i just ordered 295/45/18's for my wife's car. we are running 9" wide rear wheels, they should be ok on them, right? Nitto's run smaller than most tires, or so i have read...it's too late now, so hopefully they will work out nicely...

the factory BFG's that came on ours were 27.2" tall, and the 295/45/18 Nitto's are 28.31" tall, so only about 1" difference. I can live with that, it will fill up the fender well better, than a 285/40. I like a full rear fender well, that's how a Mustang should look in my opinion. some people like low profiles, but i like the old school rubber better...

295mm is just under 12" across the tread. 275mm is about 10.75" across the tread but I've found a 10.5" rim is a bit too wide for a 275.

I have 275's on a 9" rim and it sits about right.

I would say a 9" rim would too narrow for a 295 and would be looking at a 10 or 10.5" rim.

evenually i want to get a better tire than the stock ones.

I'm not sure though for the 555's or 555R.

I would want a decent tire i can drive on the street every day but still go to the track and pull decent numbers.

Does anyone know if the 555R tire is still a good streetable tire for daily driving?

also how many miles can you expect out of them?

I'm sure 555's are a good streetable tire but then im afraid they wont do much better than stock at the Track for hooking.

Any thoughts?

yes, they should probably be on a 10" rim, however, there are people running 315's on 9" rims on the older mustangs, pre 2005. and they look good, the Nitto's tend to run smaller than others, a lot smaller. no way would a BFG 295 fit on a 9" rim, but the Nitto's will and have before. it don't matter, they are on their way to me, so i'll find out first hand i guess...
