I have an 04 Mach1 .. :( :shrug: :shrug: :shrug: :shrug: :shrug: :shrug: :shrug: :shrug: What are MILs..and if something like a check engine light comes on will I have to do anything to correct the problem? I'm installing an aftermarket BBK midpipe and flowmaster or SLP catbacks tomorrow. if it does throw the check engine light on will it hurt my performance or make the car not run right? Will I have to do anything with regard to the 02 sensors for optimum performance? Thanks guys....:shrug:

Since yours is an 04, you will need 02 extensions since Ford move the 02 sensor bungs. Also, the MIL is just a light, because (at least on my 99) the first meaningful 02 Sensors on each bank are the ones that control air/fuel.

All you will probably have to do is take it to Autozone and have them clear it and it wont show up as long as you dont disconnect the battery...I think....

MIL = Malfunction Indicator Lamp
Same as a CEL (Check Engine Light)
Your car is OBDII (On-Board Diagnostics gen. II) and it will monitor a number of performance parameters. If any show a problem, the system illuminates the CEL. In some cases, the system switches to a programmed in "default" value so the car will continue to run although at a diminished capacity generally. At that point, you need to check the DTC's (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) and then troubleshoot the problem. Which mods will or won't throw a code? I really can't say for sure.

You will more than likely get a P0420 and P0430 code, from the secondary O2 sensors with the midpipe installed (not always though). If so you have two choices, one have the secondary O2 sensors turned off via a custom tune, or install mil eliminators. You can clear the codes without a scan tool by disconnecting the battery for about 15 minutes or so, but if the problem is still there the codes will return. Like was mentioned before most auto parts stores will let you use there scanner in the parking lot to check for codes . You can look up codes here http://www.adaptiveperformance.com/MILELIMINATOR.htm
Its on a page for mil eliminators but if you look to the right on the page it has a list for all the standard OBDII codes plus a complete list of all the differnt manufacture specific codes for all cars.

The midpipe and mufflers should sound good, did you get a H or X pipe?

Thanks guys...I got the exhaust done today I went with a O/R X-pipe and flowmaster american thunder catbacks. It sounds awesome!! I also had MIL eliminators installed and so far after driving all day no check engine light and no foreseeable problems. My only concern was the fact I did a little too much 2nd and 3rd gear chirping (actually fishtailing) lol and im afraid for my poor clutch, it feels fine though. I didnt WOT shift it just gave it some nice 2nd n 3rd gear dumps for about an hour. and i never wait on teh clutch at red lights or stop signs. so i dont think it should give me any problems....it has 10k miles on it....has anyone had to replace their clutch yet on the mach's or are they strong enough for that kind of play?....i noticed only 1 problem today but it stopped after about a minute or 2. at 2 red lights i noticed the idle stayed at about 1,300 - 1,400 RPMs instead of dropping down to 700 like it usually does. but after that it started acting normal again. is this a normal reaction or is something wrong with my car??

Do a search for hanging RPM's and you might find a fix for that. I don't know if that problem affects the Mach's or not but it should point you in the right direction I'd think.

I have the DR Gas o/r x pipe and when it was first installed I had similar rpm issues, It solved the issue on it's own after a few days, I think the cars computer has to do a learn cycle.
